Dash Illumination Question...

Hi all and Happy New Year...

I looked through the FAQ's and saw nothing so... Is there a way to brighten the OEM gauge lighting in the dash or does it mean putting all new aftermarket bulbs in? They are up to the max and functioning normally, but I'd like them brighter. My buddy's I35 can be set twice as bright as the Max.

Thanks in advance...

The bulb is neither a 74 nor 194 type bulb, it beats the hell out of me. I made mine brighter by taking the face off and using a solvent to strip the blue paint on the back of the gauge face. It all depends on how bad you want it...

most people that use the LEDs say theyre pretty bright. look at silvermax2k2's cardomain page, im pretty sure he has a write up, but i'd advise you not to do it unless you are skilled with electrical work, it looks pretty tricky

I'm not sure who this guy is on the org, but he's also done the HIDs in cluster.

It actually doesn't look that hard, you just solder the led and resistor right into the stock bulb socket. Getting the cluster out of the car isn't that much of a PITA either, I just did it recently to put in my chrome guage rings. (Although I have an '02, so maybe it's different.)
