Blehmco Lower Tie Bar issues ?

Has anyone had any issues with the tie bar Stage 2 not lining up on their 5th gen ? I tried to put it on 2 times now and even after loosening up the transverse links and all of the lower controll arm bolts the PASSENGER side rear bolt that goes through the rear bushing, will not align with the tie bar. Its off by like .5" almost. Matt recomended that I loosen the bolts and then install the bar, this didn't work- as I just wrote. Also its really hard to find a socket to fit inside the ends of the lower tie bar that will tighten down the nuts that old the FRONT end of the tie bar to the transverse link. Anyone else has had issues with their or am I the only one ? I've had this bar riding in the trunk of my Max for 4 months now, its brand new and finally decided to put it in AFTER I did my clutch, but it didn't fit so its back in the trunk again. I would like to install this thing, but it just don't wanna fit. Anyone care to chime in ?

I had the problem initially...the real key is (as I recall) the following:

1. You MUST use a lift. It's almost impossible to line everytihng up on jack stands.
2. Air tools . too hard to get leverage under the car.
3. Take off the 4 required nuts for the mount points (the ones at the end of the lower control arms and the two rear ones) Loosen all 4 of the lower control arm bolts under the car when you do it (both sides, where the LCA bolts to the frame...kind of a silver-colored thing). Make sure you remove the tires. There should be enough play now to get all 4 points of the LTB over the required bolts
4. Then you have to put the bar on. Have 2 (TWO) of the same low-profile sockets that will fit inside the LTB collars. Put them both on at the same time before tightening anything up. They will keep the LTB collars centered on the nut.
5. Tighten everything back up EXCEPT the 2 nuts in the collars. snug them up, but do not torque down.
6. Now you need to take the car off the lift. When lower, put a couple ramps or a couple of wood blocks under the car (or anything that will hold the front end up higher (ON THE TIRES!). Once all the weight is back on the front, hook up your impact gun/air tools to the sockets (still in the collars) and torque to spec. Once tight, you will liekly have to reallly struggle to get the sockets out...but they will come out with enough wiggling.

Sorry this is not the best write-up....I did it a while ago and am going from memory. There is a good how-to on Matt's homepage somewhere (maybe he has to email you the link)....

The first time was a pain because I wasn't thinkgin things out before I did it. The second time worked easily with air tools and a lift!

bottom line: a PITA to install, but WELL worth it!

I tried every possible combination to get the bar on, yes I used a lift but the bar will not fit, it looks like its not aligned properly before it was welded togheter. The bar is basically too short on the back, if this was a side to side movement clearance problem, I would have no problem in aligning it. But the bar is way too short, I tried loosening even the 4 BIG bolts on the bottom of the controll arm tranverse link, the nut at the end of the link- 27mm, and then the rear controll arm bolts, 21s I belive. My car wasn't ever hit, I'm the original owner and saw them taking the car off the car hauler when it got delivered from Nissan to the dealership where I got it from. So there was no dealership lot damage or transport damage to my car. Matt told me to loosen all the bolts and it didn't work- like 3 months ago, then I just tried this at work again after doing my clutch and it didn't work eighter. Gonna have to speak with him.

interesting....
the first time I put it on, didn't seem likeit would fit either. I really had to muscle it into place (by having another guy literally push the control arms with all his strenght to get the lips over)...but the tolerances are so close for something like this, I suppose it's not beyond the realm of reality that you might have one that's a little "off". I'm sure Matt will do right by you though...

Hmmm, first I've heard of any problems with it.

If you would, measure the distance between the holes on the LTB and on the car and make sure they're the same.. I don't think I did, but it could be possible that I sent you a bar for a 3rd gen- they're very similar in size and shape. the 4th gens are way different, but look exactly like the B14 chassis. you can definitely tell the engineers used the same design on all the cars.

shoot me a PM or email or something and let me know what you come up with. This is the first time I've heard of them not lining up properly.
