It wouldnt start today

I had been on a 3 week vacation...tried starting the car today for the first time and it made a continous trrrrrrrrr noise ..but it woulndt start. The O/D light kept flashing!!...the clock seemed really dim....any ideas what this could be besides dead battery ( will try boosting it tonight)..If the battery was dead..it wouldnt make any noise..so why the trrrr noise?

It's the battery. You don't have enough juice to turn the engine over. Jump it, it'll start.

I'm POSITIVE it's the battery. Used to happen all the time in my old car. Jump it and run it. Change the battery whenever you get a chance. Don't waist money and time on a starter when you don't need one.

I agree with ******* Bauer, seems like the battery. Just jump it and roll to sears and get a DieHard Gold or Optima and you will be fine.

It is the battery.... just jump it and it will correct the problem... As an advise to everyone.. when leaving your car for a long time, more than a week, always remove the (+) positive cable from the battery, that way nothing like this will happen......

Better yet, hook the car up to a Battery Tender. Pays for itself.
