I have an InJen with a cone filter. The cone is below the battery and I've never had a problem, but I still avoid deep puddles. The plastic shielding under the car blocks most road debris and water from the engine bay.

don't waste your $$ on an Injen. get a Berk intake instead. PM Cobymoby for prices. if you read through the past couple of pages in this forum, you will see that there is no real difference between a berk and injen except for the name and the amount of $$ you will save.

(here comes the "not a 'true' CAI" crowd )

Get the intake you want. I've had an injen for over 2 years and have never even come close to getting the filter in a puddle...but then again I don't drive through standing water, either.

The only way you would get water into the intake is if you drove through a 3ft deep puddle. If you're doing that you should be driving a Jeep, not a Maxima.

My Injen sits about 8" off the ground. It wouldn't take much to pull in water. Oh, and if I was going for the 3' puddle jump, I'd have to stay out of my fiance's Jeep cause she'd cut off my boys for ruining her perfect interior!

I think there is definately a possiblity of taking water in, especially in climates like yours and mine. I got tired of worrying about it and took my Injen off. A top mount type in the enjine bay supposedly defeats the purpose of a "cold air" intake. Da__ed if you do and da__ed if you don't.

I've had an Injen and over a period of 6-9 months got a large build up of road dirt/dust in the filter element which caused my MPG to go down to around 22. I've got a Berk (with the Apexi) now and the MPG went up to 25 on average and the filter doesn't get half as dirty. I like the sound and look, the price was right too. My .02

If you hit a puddle deep enough to take in water through your filter, you will have more problems than a wet filter to worry about. If you are worried about deep standing water then don't drive through it. Normal wet roads and the occasional pot hole puddle will not effect your filter. There is enough metal and engine to block anything from splashing up.

I live in Oregon. It rains maybe 250 days a year here. I've had my Injen for more than a year with absolutely no problems. What I'm trying to say is when driving in rain/snow water WILL NOT get into the intake. The only way you will get water into your intake is if you drive through a really deep puddle.
