00-01 owners that have tranny issue, step in..!

for the last couple of months i been experiencing delay shift or abrupt shift in my 00 Se which only has 50k....the first time i took it to them they said nothing was wrong when i know there was....second time was about 2 months ago and once again they won't do anything because they said they couldn't duplicate the problem...then last week i contact nissan and spoke to a customer service rep and explain to her my problems regarding my car and that my local dealership won't do anything to fix it....so today my 3rd time going in for the same problem they finally said that their mechanic duplicate the problem and will take care of the TSB on the car. I think a big reason they decide to fix it because the customer service rep that i dealt with call the dealership to check up and get status. They are replacing the solenoid valve assembly and if that doesn't fix the problem they will also replace the transmission control module as well. So for people that beening having problem with their tranny and have less than 60k or if u have extended warranty contact nissan if your dealership won't fix your problem...

yeah they just reprogramed it... they did nothing to the salenoid. the service manager tried to tell me that the TCM was a non-warrantied item!! so i called his bluff and called Nissan... they sent a letter (faxed a letter) to the owner of the dealership and i got a free oil change and new wipers out it...

Yes I had it done at MAXIMUMTUNING in L.I Jeff is a great guy to deal with. I cant remember exactly but it was like $350 under the group deal he had. Had it done & have never looked back simply the best mod for a auto max.

I had the TCM and shift solenoids replaced under warranty on my car couple years ago. Didn't fix a thing if you ask me, tranny is still slipping. They also managed to get tranny fluid all over my engine bay, fender, hood, and bumper while they had it and also the splash guard in the front driverside wheel well was hanging down and looked to have been dragged during the test drive and was all ripped probably because whoever did the work didn't replace it right..... Pretty sad they would give a customer back his car like that, I guess they didn't think a guy with a modded max would care there was fluid all over the car that was clean when it was brought in. I went back in to service and told them the tech who did the work had better clean the fluid and replace the splash guard so they sent him out with a bottle of windex and a rag and he cleaned it, then he went to another max on the lot and took the splash guard off it and put it on my car...... Gotta love Nissan service. Sorry about the long story....

i seem to have decent service at my dealership...i thought my tranny was slipping a while back, but it turned out to be because the car needed to warm up some more or was driving slow and punched it early in my driving and kinda hanged from either 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd can't remember, but was fine after that. i had the dealership check it out anyway at the time and they couldn't get it to slip, at the time i was sure there was a problem and they said they'd be glad to drive it with me. one of the main guys there told me if it turns out to be slipping they'd give me a brand new tranny under warranty. they just need to make sure because when the car goes to nissan they do there own tests and they won't replace **** if the tranny seems to be fine through testing. This is all of course because of the tsb and me being under warranty.

excuse me....but i think i may have all of you beat! i have a 2000 SE, and around 50,000 my tranny started acting up. wouldn't shift into third, instead went to neutral and the up the rpm's then decided it wanted to shift back into first. i took it to my dealer, and upon tear-down of the transmission, they found metal shavings in the transmission fluid pan, along with a TON of burnt up fluid. (by the way, NONE of this was caused by eradic driving!! seriously) so they got me a so called, "new transmission," which turned out to be one that was refurbished only after it was pulled out of another maxima experiencing the same problems after only 50,000 or so miles of driving.

well about 5 monthes, and only 6,000 miles later, the exact same thing started happening again. soo, i took it to the dealership, and again they found the same things when they disassembled the tranny. BUT, this time they also found that the jolt of the car shifting back into 1st snapped my front right axle!!! they then proceded to tell me they had never seen this type of thing happen twicem which made me feel REALLY good about this car!!

after two replacement transmission, 1 that is BRAND NEW, and a new axle, the maxima is performing beautifully!!! hopefully the 3rd one will be a charm.

p.s. i did have to pay for both of those transmissions, somewhere around $7,000 including labor. good news is that the latest replacement was infact covered by warranty, so i should be getting my money back soon.

I took my 2000 GLE to the dealer today and explained to them that I was experiencing a very rough shift from 1st to 2nd gear especially when I stepped on the gas. They drove the car, made a call to nissan and in a few weeks, once they get the part in, I will be getting a brand new tranny. No arguments or bull****. I was very suprised, since I have never taken the car to the dealership for any routine maintenance. They even agreed to pay for a rental car while the transmission is being installed. Sometimes life is good.

make sure that this "new transmission" is infact brand new, because thats what they told me, and it turned out to be a reconditioned one.

damn it....i just found out that nissan won't warranty my tranny and that it will cost me $625 for parts and labor to replace the solenoid valve assembly.....the nissan customer service rep whom i orginally talked to said my car was still cover under the warranty but now after research she said it expiried in 11/04....the service advisor said if i don't fix the problem it'll get worst....has anybody had experience with this?

honestly if you're gonna pay that much to get selnoids replaced.. just wait till your tranny goes out .. and they'll probably rebuild it or put a new one in

i was fortunate to have warranty and beat the crap out of the tranny and got a new one installed

or you can first purchase waranty for another 100k .. then change your tranny.

this is why a bought an extended warranty....

it has already paid itself off after all 6 coils were replaced and both rear hubs...

and it still has another 20,000 miles to go!!!!

so i say let my tranny die!!! it will cost me $50 for a new one!! and i know it will be new because my warranty allows me to go to any shop i want to get the car fixed, so i can bring it to my brothers shop!

Interstate Star Auto ROCKS!!!!!

Coworker had bulletproof tranny @ Maximum Tuning on his Maxima, I believe he spent around 3gs w/high stall TC. My other coworkers AE 5spd gives him a good run, and it has all the mods. So far its been as little as the skin of his teeth to one door, but I gotta give him consistency with his manual shift technique, that he nails 6500rpm instead of the usual lazy 6200rpm shift when in D.
Shifts like a dream, firm at light-moderate throttle, push it, and 1-2 chirps. his 2-3 does spin a bit, feel a shudder on nitrous and on certain pavement
One time we went over a bump as it was in 1-2 shift, and well if anyone has accelerated hard during a shift, its scary when that wheel pulls hard to the right.
