Diagnose this...

There is a creaky noise from front-tire wheel wells when driving on uneven road surfaces. Considerably more so when wheels are turned all the way to the left or to the right, and driving over bumps. What is this, and how can I fix it?

I've had this problem for years. When you are turning left into a driveway or something do you hear the noise in the front right? If so, you would think its a bad strut. However, I think most people have found it to be the sway bar links or some bushings. Good Luck on this fix. I still haven't fixed mine.

I'v had this same mysterious noise. It happened a few times as I drove into my driveway steering left. I did get it checked out 2 yrs ago at the dealer since the car was under warranty and I assumed there was a TSB for this problem. Well, like it always happens, no noise when I test drove it with the mechanic and they didnt find anything. Suspension, axles, links were fine. I was even inspecting the car underneath with the mechanic.
I haven't heard the noise for a long time. It's time for another check.

check out the TSBs, could be the transverse link on the 01, or a wheel bearing. there is definitely something on the FAQ's on that.

I had that too, took it to sears auto, the guy noticed it right away. It's definitely the sway bar links, they don't look like they have anything wrong with them but if theres ANY play in them then they're bad. I have my old ones and I can barely move the bolts but the weight of the car amplifies the creaking. One side was $40, the other was $70, got the parts from Nissan.

Sway bar link pics?

Hopefully, ES makes a poly replacement, since they'd be dirt cheap compared to the dealers.
