can i bolt a 6 spd transmission from a 2002-2003 maxima with a vq35de up to a 2000 which's got a vq30de? and if not, how come? what differences are there between the two engines besides the obvious fact that the later models are a half liter larger and about 30 horses more powerful?

Can it be done? Yes.
Has it been done? Yes.
Is it really worth doing? No.

 

Jeff from maximum tuning has it done on his 4th gen. According to him, it's a major PITA.

 

anything can be done if you spend enough time and money on it......

 

i got an idea.... buy a 2002.... lol

 

Done it, way too much work, no performance gains at all. Not worth it on a 3.0L, just SC it for the amount required to do this.

 

is there any improved 5 speeds then?? what is the best short shifter you guys know of??
