how do you rate your max in the snow?

Dang theres guys saying they go 30K with a set of tires and i cant even go 15K with Falkens. Whats up with that?
I havent tried the snow yet cause i live in LA and it never snows but ill soon be heading up for the mountains. But in the rain my car is great. never had a problem. Only tires wearing off too fast but i think thats cause i burn out in the rain too much ( so fun )

Before the first winter came after I got my '02 Maxima 6spd, a set of smaller 16" steel wheels with Viking SnowTech winter tires. The car would be undriveable otherwise as I have summer tires on the 17" alloys. With the winters this car is amazing in the snow, ice, and especially in the wet. These tires are much better than a good set of summers. I haven't gotten stuck yet (knock on wood), I guess the fact that the '02 maxima se has a very nice 5.9" of ground clearance, which I found odd for a "sports sedan" when I saw the number in the specs...it proved to be true whenever I drive in deep snow.

Well, if you ever drive an Audi A6 with Blizzak's, Maxima's would have to rate a 2 of 10...even with the the blizzak's now on the Maxima. Living at elevation, I get to drive in the snow quite a bit.
I did the SSIM mod for two reasons...main one was the top-end power but loosing the big torque spike in the lower rpms made driving my 6spd much easier in the snow. A linear power band is much easier to modulate, this was very noticable on the big hill getting out of my neighbor hood. The first snow storm I got to drive my Maxima in, I couldn't get up the hill. I tried all the different approachs, easy, almost at idle, massive throttle, running start, second gear...no luck. I ended up taking the wife's A6. Did the SSIM mod, now I can make it if the snow isn't to deep.

my old 3rd gen vg auto did pretty darn well. this was with crappy $40 almost bald tires and no abs. I had to make about an hour trip from the city out to the sticks where I live, and it did fine in about an inch. Now my 4th gen 5spd sucks! I wouldn't even think about going out in a light dusting of snow. I tried that once this year and within 2 minutes, I was in a ditch. I think the summer tires have alot to do with it...but still I wouldn't want to risk it even with snow tires.

It's like saying "If you ever fly first class with a super model you would have to rate economy class a 2 out of 10. Even if your wife is hot."
What a revelation!

i think the max is fantastic in the snow... i;ve got four snow tires on the car, and it handles amazingly. No complaints...

i would give it a 00 but ill be kind and give it a 01, the damn thing got stuck twice, and my RR breaks got stuck and i had to wait until midday before the damn thing to loosen up, which resulted in a lot of off days from work, not to mention my tranny now acting like a tard, yeah i drop my score, make it 0.0001

Your driving too fast for the road conditions
RWD is not going help your problem.
Another car is REALLY not going to help with this.

Perhaps you would be 'happier' if I had compaired my car to another FWD car I used to own? Lets see, ALL my other fwd cars without snow tires were better than my Maxima with snow tires. Is that a revelation all mighty God of winter driving?

Winter driving tip: Drive slow - easy on the go pedal
I see people stuck in the ditch near my place (there's a slight curve in the road people take too fast) after every snowfall and especially after the second or third of the year. People get super cautious during the first, but after the next few, seem to get overconfident and drive too fast for conditions.
Chains & a snowplow FTW!

I was making a comparison of my two cars, its not a revelation silly stoner. Why is it so wrong to compare my Maxima to another car? Most notably, in a threat that asks how people how rate the performance of their car. I have always driven FWD cars, my wife's Audi is the first AWD vehicle I've ever owned.

You compared a FWD 20K car to an AWD 50K+ car.
Not a fair comparison is all I was saying.
S-a-r-c-a-s-m ...Look it up.

True, perhaps compairing an AWD car to a FWD car is a little unfair. I'm just a little angry because we are having a random at work in March...
Odd thing, though, is the Audi doesn't stop in the snow as well as the Maxima. Both have ABS and snow tires...just another example of All Wheel Drive, doen't mean All Wheel Stop.
