Altima quicker?

Just wondering if the 3.5 Altima is quicker than the 3.5 max? I assume the Altima is lighter and curious.

Please don't torch me for asking.

Altima with 6spd runs 1/4 14.4 Max 6spd 14.6.....thats according to C&D.
The 3.5 Altima was the fastest stock FWD vehicle until the SRT4 Neon came out. (13.9 stock)

Actually, I don't mind the way any of those look. AWD in two of them. And turbos in all. I love turbos. Easy power. Cool noise.

Altima is slower for some reason, and the Neon sounds like a Honda Civic with a broken flexpipe ! I really hate the way they sound, plus they aint that fast on the highway if you know what speed to roll them from :P Turbo the Max and you can say bye bye to 99% of those cars when you try to roll them on.

One thing about altimas, is they definatly seem to get more mods/quicker alot of the time. Atleast we are finally getting some more action lately for the 5.5's.

Happy B-day Greg !

KA24DE(T) is deff fun, but I still preffer SR or VQ over it... don't get me wrong nothing bad bout that engine, but leaking front covers, timing chain rattles...ehh. I got a 00 Altima, its a nice daily driver without a problem. It gets up and goes just fine. Having made some serious power with a stock internally SR- 500WHPs I know what is up. Check out the homepage if you don't belive it.

I think the 5spd alti v6s versus 5.5 gen 6spd max is a driver's race... my buddy has an 04 5spd and after intake and ypipe i can still take him by 3 cars although i think once he gets better at stick, it will be a closer race... I had another buddy with an 05 alti drive my 03 SE 6spd and he just kept telling me about how there are gobs of power in every gear and how the trasmission made him feel like he had been driving my car for years. Unless you start off in first gear, the Alti is at a disadvantage due to gearing...

My buddy and I both got our cars at the same time, obviously I got a Max and he got the Altima (both auto). And I can tell you from street racing and from the track these cars are identical and its a drivers race. With the same mods we run the exact same track times. Nissan definitely underated the Altimas power. I cannot speak to manuals but I am assuming it would still be pretty close. What will be interesting to see is how the new 05 Altima SER repsonds to mods...that may be quicker than the 02/02 Maximas.

I agree, and it should be in theory... As far as the manuals go, I think the max has an advantage due to the 6spd. The only ratio that is the same is 1st gear. I jump on my boy in 2nd gear starts and beyond... Off the line it should be driver's race...

After driven the SE-R, I can say that the 5AT SE-R DEFINITELY feels quicker than my 4AT 02 SE even with my Cattman Y-pipe. Time will tell if that feeling can be quantified with quicker 1/4 mile times.

For point of reference, here's a link to some videos I posted through Acura-Cl.com where a prominent member of Altimas.net ran his SE-R against a 350Z (whose driver resides on my350z.com). Enjoy.

IIRC, the 05 3.5 Alti has a speed limiter set at about 115 mph (according to some Altima websites I read). Wife has an 05 but it has the 2.5, though, so no testing it.

Gee, who would have guessed that? People who own maximas saying their car is faster than evo/alti/wrx/srt... big surprise!

That's the right answer. The cars are so close it's all up to the driver.
