60k mile tuneup...best plugs? wires? what do I need? Checked stickys already

I have a 2003 6 speed maxima...I wanted to drain the tranny fluid...coolant...etc etc...along with change the plugs, wires, air/fuel filters and anything else I left out. What parts do I need for this? Does the tranny have a filter on it somewhere?? I'm looking to keep this tuneup around 4 to 500 bucks tops...what can I do? I already have nissan green radiator fluid that you guys said to get...I was weary on spark plugs because I've been told that denso's are some of the only maxima friendly plugs out there. I saw some weird "hotwires" that were like 250 bucks for wires with some weird silver plugs. Gimme an idea of what I should expect.

thanks

-Mike

i would stick with ngk plugs, either the stock platniums or coppers if they are available yet. there are no wires, only coils. you have a distributor-less ignition.
there is no tranny filter, instead there is a screen. when i dropped the pan, i simply removed and cleaned it. it only needs replacement if it is damaged/torn. the fuel filter is in the tank and since i am not aware of your ability, then i could not recommend whether to do it or not. the parts are a little more expensive than most fuel filters but my was very caked up just before 50k miles.
air filter is pretty straight forward. i would check the condition/levels of the brake & ps fluid.

Fuel filters are lifetime, no need to change it. There are no plug wires, so skip those too. Get the plugs from Dave burnette (OEM nissan are the best for the $$) at 1888-254-6060. Also, while you have him on the phone, price out some coils. Those usually go bad about then. IIRC, the coils are $51 each. The plugs are something like $6 each. Coolant should be changed and flushed every 30k. Same goes for the tranny fluid. Nissan D-Matic is a great fluid unless you race (on a track) frequently. You can ask dave about all the specific parts needed for this. He is a great help and a great guy to know in general.

the fuel filter will probably last the life of the car but has anyone with this opinion even seen one with even moderate mileage on it. mine was caked up @ 47k and i always run name brand 93. just because the fuel filter changed to a more labor intensive location than the 3.0 on the 4th gens does not mean it should be left alone. clogged/dirty fuel filters can cause hesistation and poor acceleration. the parts are fairly inexpensive and just takes a little more time than the previous version on the firewall. i agree with the rest of your statements but show me a fuel filter that has over 100k on it and is allowing flow like it was new. i thought most around here were the enthusiats that always went the step further and were not the ones who bought the car because nissan told them they did not have to do a tuneup before 100k.

Actually Mike, it is the same filter. I will probably be replacing mine soon.
