Cleared HIDs from tap plastics

Can someone post side by side pics of a 2k2 max with the hids cleared. One pic using the tap plastics lense and the other the home depot lense. Preferably on a grey lustre max, but any color will do.
Thanks

?

For the people that got their lenses from Tap Plastics, what do you ask for when you call them? I dont think anyone has ever posted what they are called.... since they dont specialize in Maxima clear HID lenses obviously, what should we be telling them that we want?

Why replace it with plastic? I know it matches and looks alright, but there's another alternative that's free, easy, and looks way better IMO.

Just completely leave the lens off and buy a chrome (whatever illumination color) bulb from autolumination.com or ebay.

Note: It gives that euro look (semi).

Just so you guys know, the Malibu lens from Home Depot (which is made by Intermatic) is also sold at Lowe's. I believe it's called "Yard Scenes" at Lowe's, but it's also made by Intermatic, $8 for two bulbs (and you dremel the lens out).

I'm not crazy about having no lens in there, just looks like it's missing something to me. But that is a very sweet ride you have there, Deckdout.

Here is mine (with the Lowe's version):

BTW, why is our hood gap so unsightly on these cars? Nissan really couldn't have done a better job with that?

Hey Polak-

I was just checking out your cardomain. It looks like you removed the clearance bulb comletely in one of the nighttime shots where you have the DDEs and the low-beam HIDs on with the fogs. I wonder if removing the clearance bulb would be a good idea. Maybe I'll give that a whirl and see how I like it.

I didn't realize that at the time of the picture but the driver's side bulb is loose because it's a 9 LED Bulb that lights up only 6 LEDs.

You mean this one right?

You got it. Actually doesn't look too bad without it lit. I got the white 9-LED ones from SuperBrightLEDs.com and I'm not crazy about the match--it's a bit greenish compared to the stock HID bulbs.

bumping up an old thread, but what about removing the lens up top as well. it should look clean as hell with both those lens's out provided that you have no need to keep this bulb active (mine is disconnected anyway, cuz it looks like crap compared to the HID bulb).

contact below. Dont need to say anything about how it is for our Maximas, that only confuses them. Tell them you want this part either frosted or clear. I think it cost me like $5 each.

3 1/4 in diameter all the way around (perfect circle) & about 1/4 inch thick transulent frosted piece.

I just recently (1 month ago) dremeled the top lens out. You have to have a steady hand but it matches the bottom lens (turn) when complete. Looks really good, the lens is mounted to the chrome piece and no other way to get it out without a dremel.

Thanks man. It's not hard at all. Just needs patience. Takes about 15 mins or so to do each side. You have to take the piece out of the headlight and I took a good size drill bit and drilled holes close to the edge of the lens without touching the chrome sides. Then you take a dremel and go around it and shave off the remaining edges. It gets messy and the plastic will melt as you go but hardens real quick and will snap off easily. When you get most of the big pieces out you use a higher grit sand wheel on the dremel and smooth around the edges being extra careful not to touch the chrome with the wheel. Wash the whole chrome piece and clean very good with a soft terry cloth. You're all done. I have a superwhite bulb in there now, but I'm ordering a chrome peanut bulb that illuminates orange from www.autolumination.com. Good luck with this, and I can do it for $20 bucks for you if you find an extra piece for both sides and send it to me.

O do you now? Are they the Trak with the lugs built in? Shoot me a pm with how much you want if they are. I'd prefer those instead of the extended studs and the separate spacer plate.

I know this is like a two year bump, but I really wanted to do this mod to my car. In our home depot in Canada, I don't think we have the Malibu lens that's sold in the white plastic bag, is there an alternative lens that I can use? I'm guessing I would have to dremel out a lens out of a flood light or something similar. Is there a specific lens or lens from a light that anybody would suggest that best matches the headlight?
