if you don't mind me asking, where did you get your springs and for how much? also, do you happen to know what the measurements are from the ground to the bottom of the front and rear fenders? looks really good.

Sure, I've got Maxspeeds in my garage and I need struts as well. I want to find someone with Tokico Blues and Maxspeeds to see what the ride is like, especially now while it's still cold. I can't see myself adjusting my struts so Illuminas seems like overkill.

Henry, what struts are you running with your S-Techs? How are they riding in the cold now?

Well you can call me a happy customer w/my S techs..i mean what do you expect when you lower the car 2.2 inches in the front and 1.6 in the back.....In my oppinion it looks great and the ride is great considering the cost...if your only gonna lower your car 1 or 1.5 inches the spring wont be so stiff and it'll prob be a softer ride....the lower you go the harsher the ride its pretty simple in my book.....But definately do not ride on stock struts....you get what you pay for...if you want the best ride get some coilovers where the spring/strut combo is meant for eachother...have a nice day

uhh what are you talking about. 235/45 is NOT the same height as 225/50...sidewall percentages....

235 x 45 = 105.4
225 x 50 = 112.5

less than a cm difference but it's still a difference....

Not necessary but highly recommended... that is, if ya don't wanna blow your stock struts... besides, wouldn't ya rather just do it all instead of having to take everything off again to install the struts later, or always driving around with the worry of your struts blowing in the back of your mind? I dunno... but I would just get em all done at once....

Heh, I'm not starting a thing. The guy is clearly giving someone wrong advice; something that is highly ill-advised on this forum. So he retorts by telling me that he didn't ask for a negative comment, which is obvious because comments and opinions should only be shared when questions are involved -- and roll didn't state a question. :P

Hehe, regardless. New struts with new springs are an absolute must.

Replacing the struts when you replace the springs is more cost effective if you have it done at a shop. It's also more time effective if you DIY. Sure, the vehicle will handle better if you replace the struts at the same time, but personally, I would not call it an immediate necessity. I had my factory struts on for appx 69k miles before I upgraded. The only blown strut I had was actually replaced via Nissan, under the B-B warranty and was probably bad before I had the springs installed.

Replacing the struts with the springs is more a preference than a requirement, IMO.

H&R definitely have a rear rake - which i dont care for. My front measures 26.75" and rear measures 26.0" and is very consistent with houscor's webpage info. As for the handling improvmemt, all i can say is...WOW. I do also have Illumina's set at 3/3. The ride is also VERY close to stock...which is great for an everyday driver....no bottoming out either.

On the issue of replacing struts when replacing springs, i agree that it makes since to do it together to save on installation. To break down the costs, my springs were $220 and struts were $450 with $175 installation/align for $845 total. If i had just done just springs, it would have been less than half at $395.

And with springs like H&R or Maxspeed, that have spring rates fairly similar to stock and that do not reduce the susp travel very much, maybe new struts arent absolutely necessary...but for a tein or sprint drop, new struts are a real good idea.
