Just replaced the maf on my 2000 SE. Went down to the local dealer and got one for 100 bucks. Took about 15 minutes to replace, car runs great now. Good luck with yours.

The 2002-2003 MAFs supposedly suck. The Altima guys are replacing 2002 MAFs with 2004s. Idle is rough (a bit low), that's all. I dunno if it's the same MAF on both Altimas and Maximas, but it seems like a real plague to them.

This is not true, the AM600 meters are better than ANY 2k-2k1 meter out there. Dont forget, also, the alti guys have a different plug (one like the 2k4) not like the one on 5.5 gen MAF. So, it wont really work.

Well check for yourself.

Unless the Maxima MAF is different from the Altima MAF on the same production year (2002).

definately check out car-part.com - I picked up a used am600 out of a 2k3 for $50...much better than the 400 something at the dealer.

I'll add that you should definately get the ECM reprogram done to accommodate the new MAF. While some say you don't need it - I'm a proponent of it. I replaced my maf initially, and reset the ecu (resetting to the base A/F table?). At first it seemed ok, but after a while, it seemed the power loss was creeping back.

I just picked my max up from the dealer today after the ECM program ($60) and it's like new.
