300zx brakes on a Maxima
Hi,
I have been following this forum for quite some time but today finally registered. I did read most of the threads on this forum so i have some idea about what's going on but still have a few questions. Personally, i drive a 2000 GXE Auto (planning a 5spd conversion in March/April). I consider my car pretty stock since all i got is CAI, FSTB, RSB, Cat-bypass. The car is riding on 18s in the rear and front are stock donuts (no money for new tires yet). My best 1/4 mile was 15.2 at Inferion Raceway, California (my tires were in a pretty bad shape). That's it for the intro...
My question... has anyone either attempted or succeeded in putting 300zx brakes (stock calipers with bigger rotors) on their max. Seems to me that 300zx calipers are pretty nice since they have a dual-piston design adn they would have that OEM NISSAN look. I know that Max's stock rotors are small as hell and i wanted to know if there's a spacer for calipers of some sort to move them further away from the axle and make like 12 or 13" rotors fit.
P.S. Don't get me wrong, i am not cheap... i know that i can get a BBK for like $1500, but i really cannot afford that. i am busting out $450 next month for tein s and Gr2s plus i need about $1000 for my 5spd conversion and for an 18 year old college student, that's a lotta money.

wassup
another bay area org member. COOL! if you want to do a 5spd conversion PM, turbo95max, hes maxima mechanic in the bay area. There are many optional big brake kits for the max, people use the stock calipers with the 12.6 2k4 maxima rotors, 300zx calipers with 13 inchh cobra rotors, 300zx calipers with 12.6 inch 2k4 maxima rotors. Those are mainly the cheapest alternatives in buying a BBK.
where do you go to school, if you don't mind me asking?
