wierd noise with video clip (exhaust)

I have a video clip with my car at start-up, a loud whining noise that comes from the engine compartment. Blackbird thinks it might be the waterpump but that was from just a description of the sound. Anyways, here is the link to the clip:

whinnning noise

it may take a second or two to download depending on your connection speed (678 KB)

The engine needs heat...that's what it is. Let it warm up before you move it.

Hmmmnnnn....mine does something similar, but it's more high pitched then yours. Yours is more of a mellow hum/whine, mine is squealy/squeaky sounding.

Can you get a clip from the engine bay with the hood up?

Try and narrow down where exactly the sound is coming from, ie front of engine(passenger side), front/rear of engine bay, and top/bottom of engine.

Mine is right in the middle I think, so I'm thinking tensioner pulley but I'm not sure.

I had A little Squekky Noise in the Engine compartment, when i first used to warm up my car but everseince i Changed my Under Drive Pulley, it went away. BUt It might be Because of the Belt. I knew mine was because of the belt thats why i went ahead and changed the Crank pulley.....

Take a long screw driver and place one end on your ear and touch each device with the other end. When you touch the device thats making the noise, you'll hear it transfered very clearly up through the screw driver into your ear.

My bet is on the Alty.
