It is not bad gas

since my other thread got closed for some reason id like to inform E55AMG that i did not get this problem because of bad gas since i always use chevron 93 octane...at the same station, and same pump every week. How can i learn anything from anyone else's experience if my thread gets closed down? I was looking for insight but i guess i cannot find that b/c of one persons opinion on my circumstance.

the station at the end of my street was great for 10 years, then one day it filled my dad's toyota sr5 full of water and ruined the engine... it definitely COULD have been bad gas.

can you explain how they tested the coils? i want to make sure they actually did the procedure instead of just telling you they were good. also, you said the plugs were new, what brand and type were they replaced with?

i replaced them with NGK platinum...I got to the place before the guy was done testing everything and saw him test two. He used an ohmmeter to test them. The head mechanic said the engine will sometimes shoot off codes and it may not have anything to do with the code it sends to the comp...since he said it could be fuel injectors or sensors or the ecu, and i have gotten slightly better than normal mpg so i do not think it is the gas for that reason as well.

Ohmmeter testing cannot determine a bad coil either, sometimes they flat wear out. And since there are no published specs as to what the ranges should be, there is no way to tell if they are bad. You just simply replace them and move on.

You will want to double check the NGK part # against the one from nissan, I dont think they are the same, but the car should run fine if they are in the same heat range.

Your mechanic is right, those are called "ghost codes"

The injectors are fine, sensors are fine, and the ECU is fine. I know for a fact that this problem is caused by bad gas. Ive been through it a few times, so take it from someone with experience and save your money.
