hey whats up, new member here. Just got my 02 maxima on Jan 12th, bought it in Florida, drove back up to New York. Well during this blizzard, did a lot of peelin out and getting stuck (No TCS), now, while all the highways are clear, i'm driving on the highway, and when it gets to 50 it starts to vibrate alot. any ideas on what could be the problem. i'm thinking alignment but im not sure. Any help would be appreciated, and hi to all once again.

 

packed snow or ice in your rims ,check it out

 

so a little ice and snow would actually cause the car to shake that much? hmm, well its a little cold now, first thing in the morning ill check it. Hopefully its something simple like that. *hopes*

 

check tire pressure. or one of the weights might have come off of your wheels.

 

Yeah I would take it to a tire shop and have the wheels balanced. If that doesn't fix it then check the alignment. If that doesnt fix it.........Axles? Motor mounts? I don't know.

 

yes that's almost definitely the culprit...same thing happened to me today in the snow and it felt like the wheel was about to come loose and fly off. Stopped, cleared out the ice/snow inside the rim (it comes out very easily, I might add) and vibration was gone. It's a pretty common problem with open spoke rims like ours.

As to your peeling out...no need for TCS...just start up in 2nd gear and be gentle on the gas....200+hp through the front wheels need to be controlled delicately in slippery conditions!

 

i know this does not pertain to your specific problem, but becareful where you leave your car. The HID's are a hot item in the tri-state area. a local dealer may install data dots and brackets to slow down theives.

 

Yep, ive had a friend whose got his stolen 3x. Im gonna check out the *** nissan or central ave nissan probably tomorrow or tuesday to get it checked. About how much is it btw?
