Cleaning/Removing dust and dirt film

I just purchased a 2001 SE Anniversary Edition in grey lustre. I have already posted about what to use to clean the car .. thanks for the advice! Here are several more quick questions. I appreciate the responses from you experts on the Maxima SE.
1) Is it safe to rinse the car with just water and dry with soft towel to remove dust from the finish? (Instead of a complete washing with car soap, that is)
2) What can you do to prevent water spots? (techniques, products, etc.)
3) My car is brand new and was not detailed by the dealer... just washed and wiped down. Should I wax now or wait later?
4) Is grey lustre a clear coat paint? Any special care needed for grey lustre and the metallic look to this paint?
5) No Armor All or STP on the dash? What can I use safely on the dash, kickboards, and door panels to get a clean shine?

1. Use soap. The soap will gently remove any dirt or particles from your finish. Without soap, you run the risk of grinding these particles into your paint. Be sure to use a gentle soap made for cars
2. Wash in parts and dry quickly. Do'nt wash in direct sunlight.
3. Wax now! A few coats of wax on a new car will be necessary.
4. Yes, all paint nowadays is clearcoat. Darker colors like yours will require a bit more care.
5. I have found Meguiars #40 vinyl and rubber cleaner to be awesome. It does not leave an artificial, greasy shine like armor all.
good luck, and have fun!

You can usually find those products at any automotive store like Pep Boys or Autozone. You can try their web-sites to locate stores close to you. Or try www.meguiars.com . They may have some more info on where to get them. All you need to use right now is a wax. A cleaner wax is not necessary.

What wax by Meguiars or other companies do you recommend? I could find only a car wash by Armor All
(says it will not strip wax). The only wax by Meguairs on the shelf was the cleaner wax. Again, sorry for the multiple questions ... just want to start right!
