Rattling in suspension...or elsewhere?

Hi, if this has been posted about already please give me the link for i could not find anyone else with the same issue...

Anyways...
I have a 2000 GXE and there is a horrible rattling sound coming from my front struts when i drive over uneven pavement, small cracks in asphalt or small holes. The weird thing is that my suspension makes almost NO sound when i go over a larger hole or crack. Does anyone have any idea what that annoying rattle may be coming from? My suspension is stock and has never been taken apart. Any help will be appreciated. Aleksey.

do you ever hear a popping noise? the reason i ask is becuase you say you hear rattling which might indicate that something is loose. nissan released a tsb for popping from the front struts.

no, i would not describe it as popping. It seems like mothing is not tied down and just keeps banging when i go over small cracks. I just want to make sure it is my shocks or struts because when i put my new suspensing on, i want that sound gne for good. thanks.

I just started to hear the same thing. It is getting louder by the week. It seems to be from the right front strut. Nissan's bulletin regarding the strut noise is NTB00030. If anyone can get a copy of this it may be helpful to our situation.

I do not really care if there's a bulletin for this stuff... ... the only thing I want to know if the noise will be gone once i put in my new suspension. Part of the reason i am getting new suspension is to get rid of that noise. I just do not want install everything new in and be left with the exact thing that i had before.

Well, if ya read the bulletin (and all the symptoms and details), or take the car and get it fixed at a dealer using the TSB, ya might be able to better pinpoint the cause, no? I tend to think its good to know what the problem is exactly vs getting a yes/no answer to just go ahead and get something done that will presumably take care of it....

If i have a 2000 Maxima and there is a TSB for the problem that i have, are they still going to fix it for free? thanks.

I don't know... that wasn't my point... my point was the issue of getting to know the details of the problem...

I also have the same rattle from the right front on my 2000. It's mild and seems to come and go, with no popping or other major sounds. I just added it to the list of rattles and turn up the radio.
