The unusual feel of the 5th Gen Max's manual transmission is making me take a close look at the short throw shift levers on the market. I do not notice them as popluar mods discussed in this forum and I find little about them in FAQs. So, why is that? Have I just missed the FAQ or thread? If anybody has tried an STS what can you tell us about it?

Do a search in the 5th Gen Forum under Short Throw Shifter. That should do the trick.

Thank you. That worked. Now that you have some time with your STS how do you like it? Do you find that it takes any additional attention while driving in traffic or is all of your experience positive?

To be perfectly honest, I haven't driven the car that long with the Stillen STS installed and I'm still getting used to it. The shifts are much more positive and provide more of a sports car feel. But I definitely have to exert more effort to make them, particularly the shift from 2nd to 3rd.

No. But I don't race my car, so I don't put a lot of pressure on the tranny during shifts.
