Nissan's response to bad coils

My ignition coils failed yesterday. Took car to the dealer for repair. Just under $600 for new coils. I contacted Nissan for assistance. They said no. My warranty is for 3 years or 36,000 miles, they said. But it is a case by case arrangement. They said they need more info. for there to be a recall. I also told them about this website. They said people will print anything, true or false. I am angry about there lack of support. Since I have names and telephone numbers, why don't we tell him directly how wrong he is? What do you guys think?

I sent a letter to nissan - a nice, intelligent one (without being offensive to them) - when my coils needed replacing (after warranty) and they provided me the cost of the coils themselves (I had already done them, and was just wondering if they could reimburse to any degree). I did my coils myself - ordered from Dave B for just over $300 and the job takes an hour if you don't know what you're doing. It's about the EASIEST thing you can do on a maxima, besides fill it with gas.

I was quoted at my stealership for $600 to replace them, so doing them yourself will trim $250+ off the cost. Most people who contact nissan will not get any money back, but the tone of my letter was impecable; it was factual, I didn't point fingers, I was nice about it, complimented Nissan at the same time, etc.

It sucks, but anybody with bad coils please replace them yourself!

Does this mean the new coils are better than the originals? Will they last longer?

hey man, this coil issue is not a recall they have put a bulletin out for updated coils because they think that they might go out--nissan knows that they "could" cuase a possible problem. there is nothing wrong with the coils they just dont last as long as they thought they would
