Steering wheel still shaking......:(
Steering wheel still shaking......:(
problem before:
steering wheel was shaking during high speed braking.
solution before:
front rotors were bend, replaced for new ones, problem was gone!!
problem now:
after about 2k-3k miles of the new rotors, steering wheel started shaking again during high speed braking and i could hear the very deep braking sound
sloution now:
could be the pads??? or rotors again??? or something else??
thanks

If the rotors a new "factory" it could be that they are bent .....but that's a major problem with the Max rotors.. if you look at them the will bend........ Also it could be Balancing...try balancing the wheels... that should help...... but if the shaking continues.... replace the rotors with PowerSlot.. they worked for me....
yikes
it sounds like your rotors warped again, that's no good...
Try re-tightening your lugnuts with a torque wrench? Maybe they're overtorquing or torquing the lugnuts unevenly (doing some tight, some loose, etc.)...
If the wheels haven't been balanced lately OR you haven't had an alignment recently, get both of those done.

Wasn't there a TSB regarding this problem? The rotors on our cars warp easily, but I remember somebody saying that the hub the rotors are attached to may actually warp, which causes new or newly machined rotors to warp more quickly than they should.

This is the TSB: http://apollo799.50megs.com/Maxima/Brake%201.htm
It does not mention the hub being warped however one can only speculate so many causes as to why Nissan would call for an on-car vs off-car lathe.

yes i reused the old pads after i replaced the new drilled slotted rotors. and the problem is the steerning wheel wasn't just shaking, i could hear a very deep braking sound, like a DEEP scraching sound.....
It's the rotors again... same problem here. On my second set and working on my third. Glad I'm still under warrenty. Crappy OEM rotors. I'll probably get one more set before I'm out of warrenty then I'll get aftermarket ones.

now i know, i should re-tighten them with torque wrench

Use a torque wrench next time.

the dealer replaced my front rotors without replacing the pads before (eventhough i asked them to replace the pads) and after 3 months the rotors were warped again... this is when i found out they never replaced the pads... they put new rotors AND pads on for free after that
stock rotors on the 5th gen max suck in general - your rotors are warped again - i've warped my rotors about 3 times in one yr- my cuz who is a mechanic resurfaced the rotors those 3 times - changed pads just to be sure and the same thing keeps happening - this spring im either gettin slotted or cross drilled rotors so they dont overheat like the stock rotors do - good luck
