Crossmember spacers

Does anybody know where I can buy crossmember spacers? I am looking to put them on the bar just under the midpipe to give a little more clearance. Also any thoughts on whether this is a safe modification to do? I do not want to compromise the structural integrity of the car. I have searched and searched with not much luck.

Thanks,

Mark

I thought of that, but I don't think that would be the safest route to go. I think a machined spacer would be the best route.

I used 10 washers per bolt ( I think 1" diameter and 1-2 mm thick), and got longer bolts too. So that's 80 total washers to space the frame brace down. No problems. I just took the stock bolt and went to Lowe's and found one with the same thread but longer. Unfortunately the washers have some rust on them now. They are not the plated ones I guess. But they work fine.

There has to be consequences for doing this besides possibly scraping the ground. What role does the crossmember play in the structural integrity of the car? Where is GALO at ??

Mine doesn't scrape because my car is not lowered. I think the brace just ties the right and left side of the car in the middle. The 4th gens doesn't have that brace I think.

A solid machined spacer or 10 washers, what's the difference? It's not like the 10 large washers are going to compress like rubber spacers (Below).

You won't find a washer that's 1 in thick. I haven't seen them. Especially a machined one. It would have to be custom made.

I wouldn't use rubber because it'll flex. The whole point of the brace is so there's no flex. That's why I used large diameter washers to balance any twisting load that'll be on the bolts. The washers stick out past the edges of where the holes are on the brace.
