weird noise
when im driving between 2250-2750 RPMs in second, third or fourth gear i hear a ridiculous rattling noise. I'm not exactly sure where it's coming from. My best guess is the transmission since it's only when i hit the gas lightly. Not at open throttle. It's a six speed with 62000 miles on it. Changed the tranny fluid first time at 25k, second time at 47k. Any suggestions?

Just a guess...but check your exhaust and see if it has shifted on the rubber hangers. Sometimes it will just slightly ban underneath and sound like you describe. get under the car, grab the exhaust in a few places and shake. If it hits-likely its your problem

I never thought of that. I do have a Greddy Evo so it's possible that could be the problem. I shall check it out tomorrow. If anyone else has any other suggestions i'd grately appreciate it and i'll post what i find with the exhaust tomorrow.

tried both of your suggestions...neither of them seems to be the problem. It seems something is rattling inside the engine as it is turning if that helps for description. Please, if anyone can be of further assistance I'd grately appreciate it.

Although I drive an automatic, I experience something similar. At a little under 1500 RPM, when I press on the accelerator lightly, there is a vibration coming from the engine. It's a very high frequency vibration. I'm gonna have my valve brackets checked out to make sure there isn't any contact. BTW, is there a TSB on the valve brackets? Just curious. I wouldn't even know where to check.

This topic have been discussed plenty of times. The rattling noise is your engine pinging, still has not a feasible solution. One of my guess is engine running too lean, the pinging usually happens under light throttle input and the car is fully warmed up. Maybe needs a tune up.
