Hi, Everyone.

I've had my Maxima for six months now and was wondering if I should take it in to Nissan for a serivce check-up. Nissan's website recommends the following:

6 Month/7,500 Mile Interval Service
Recommended at 22,500, 37,500, 42,500, 52,500, 67,500, 82,500 and 97,500

12 Month/15,000 Mile Interval Service
Recommended at 45,000, 75,000, and 105,000

24 Month/30,000 Mile Interval Service
Recommended at 60,000, 90,000, and 120,000

Looking at the 'recommended' miles, I haven't reached the 22,500 point yet, so should I wait until then or just go now at about 8500 miles?

Just being paranoid. Thanks in advance.

Look at your manual and go through the checklist yourself. It'll save you a lot of $$$. The checkups are usually overpriced oil changes.

3K miles get the oil changed (or sooner)
the max is pretty much trouble free
just keep up on the oil changes
15k miles change the tranny fluid
the rest just check in the owners manual

3k oil change... WHY

What is this with the 3k oil changes? The oil producing companies really have the American consumer wrapped around their little finger!!! No where else have I come across this 3k oil change - not in adverts and not in conversation with mechanics. My last mechanic advised changing oil no more frequently than 10k when using a synthetic, I will confess that on that car (Toyota MR2) I changed it every 6k with Mobil 1 and never had a oil related problem!

Is changing the tranny fluid as easy as changing the oil? What's the good stuff, does Mobil 1 make a tranny fluid, what about redline? thanks...

Use Redline for the tranny fluid. In terms of
"easy to do" well thats up to you. If you have
an auto like me you have to replace the tranny
fluid filter, kind of a pain. But if you have a
manual its just drain and refill. Mobil 1
synthetic oil is the best in the world in terms of
oil. Unfortunately poor a** old me can't afford
the Mobil 1 (I think I need to give up cigarretes
to afford it) haha.
Anyways, If your in the area this weekend, stop by
the Stillen Open house and you will have TONS
of Maxima enthusiasts to give you honest advice on
how to keep that Maxima of yours running top notch

is a 15k tranny fluid change necessary? I thought 30k was the interval for tranny fluid.
