Ebay headers + y-pipe

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33631

HI i have been seeing these headers on ebay for quite a while. It says that they are good thru 1999 model of a maxima, but from what i have read here, it seems like my 2000 has the same engine (not entirely same) as the 1999. I emailed the guy to ask if they will fit my 2000 Max but he did not answer any one of my 15 emails. Just a quick question... Do you guys think that these will fit my car, 2000 Max GXE? I a really would want you guys to give me a WHY also because a yes/no answer does not explain what the problem with them is. Thanks for your time.

Some 4th gen guys use these headers, my friend bought headers from SSautoChrome for his SE-R and they where copies of HS headers. These headers don't do much in terms of performance due to the design. You will gain power vs stock due to the restrictive Ypipe, if you want real power get HS or Cattman headers. www.jimwolftechnology.com is selling HS headers for 529 shipped.

Yes they will fit, if you car has cali emissions you need to plug up the EGR pipe that is on the rear manifold. Cali specs don't have EGR, where 4th gens do have it. Not too many 5th gens have EGR, only the early 00 Federal emissions did.

waste of money due to install time, its not like a Civic where installing a header takes 15 min. Its a few hour job if not more when you never done headers on a FWD transverse mounted V6. For 250 bux more you can have stuff that works, fits and makes POWER.

I don't know if they will fit or not. There's more to consider than just having the same motor. Will they bolt to the motor? Yes. Will they bolt to the motor and fit around everything under the hood of a 5th gen that's different than a 4th gen? Who knows.

It would be a shame to spend the money and get 3 hours into the install just to find out the pipes interfere with something you can't move.

I'm not saying they wont fit, only that there is a reason why they may not.

I looked into them a little further and got to the link that they provide on the auction page...

http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...article&sid=88

supposedly the test vehicle was a stock 4th gen maxima that after the install gained 18 whp adn 14 lbs of torque at the wheels. I am about to do my taxes in a few weeks and i think i will go for this system. If they won't work as well as advertised, i;ll just use them as a part of my future turbo kit.

this is the setup that i want to do and if you look carefully you can see that i am planning to modify my y-pipe to make the cylinder banks join under the engine and the pipe out of a joint to point towards the driver's wheel. I want to ouse a cheap set of headers and y-pipe sp that in case i mess up my welding, i wouldn't bee to pissed .
