Installed Injen Intake Today
I don't think I will have to worry about any water getting in... I am disapointed with the performance with injen... I really thought I would notice it more. I guess I will have to see how it works with my ypipe. Do you really think a berk would have been any better or was the stock air filter just pretty good by itself?
Got my Place Racing intake the other day from the group buy. Since the weather is so cold lately, my first attempt on the install will be to install the first tubewith then the MAF and then the Monster flow unit. I will cut the hole in the fender for the second tube when the weather warms a little.
i was thinking of going with a weapon R dragon intake... but i never see anyone mentioning it, is it not worth mentioning ?
mainly i like the look of the filter casing and i read the foam filters are much better.

I installed the bypass cost about $40.... but had to cut the pipe a little bit. worth getting since everyone complains about water getting into the engine..
by the way any forums on how to install the heat shield for the Injen intake, I try to install it seems like it cannot fit properly for some reason it seems way to big to pass through, I bare have enough room with the filter and its made by injen and the I brought the correct size....anyone can help with this issue. Thanx

I have injen with warpspeed y-pipe. It sounds nice, but when I first put on the injen, I noticed that I lost low end, and my car could not go pass 120mph as easily. I just bought a frankencar from irish, so I hope it could improve. And, y-pipe is a smart investment.

You can fit an AEM bypass valve with an Injen... its been done... alternatively, you can also get the splash guard that Injen makes for the intake... its pretty much just a shield that goes around part of the filter...

just curious, but if it doesn't do anything and actually creates a loss of power form what i hear... It's totally esthetic.

it sounds nice, you get a quicker throttle responce with wired gas pedal (non drive-by-wire). oh yea, you get a lot more out of the intake as you upgrade other engine and exhaust components. it increases exponentially with addition of headers, catt-back, catt, y-pipe, turbo, ect...

But do you honestly think a metal shield right next to the radiator will keep the intake cool? Ya didn't feel a difference because the shield does nothing.
intake vs. headers
i've been reading that peolpe seem to be somewhat dissapointed with injen intakes. i've found some header sets for less that the injen costs. thinkin bout goin with that? any thoughts?

Look at the original thread you started.
if you found headers cheaper than a intake they suck/poor quality/minimal to no gains....also i dont see how some of intake buyers are dissapointed with their "performance gains".... If all someone buys are a intake and mabye a exhaust your not gaining much at all... the more you mod the more you gain....also what you mod with what mods you have are a big factor. just because I have a exhaust and i bought a injen intake I didnt expect to see those claimed 14hp gains....I need to do alot more than buy a intake....y-pipe...or headers...cats...ect... In defense of injen ...i honestly believe I have better throttle and minimal gains in power. I wasnt expecting to be a car length faster just by adding this....so whoever is thinking about buying intake or has a injen intake...the power will come with the right mods. Oh and the water sucking up to your engine is a joke..seriously ....unless you literally drive in a lake /pool/ ocean or you park on your neighbors lawn over the sprinkler...nothing is going to happen.....NOTHING....

That's what I meant. The shield does not do anything, and I am just letting other people aware of my mistake so they won't waste their money, like I did.

After reading two pages, what's the final verdict?
I have an auto 2002 SE and I got a K&N, definately noticed a little more throughout the powerband.
But now I maybe want to move into an intake, but don't really care for the increase in sound too much.

It is dyno proven to give the most gains anyways... I'll be doing it as soon as I find the hardware for my stock airbox.

love the sound though!

This is a little off the injen topic, but involves the intake.. bear with me since I'm unable to start my own thread.
Had my throttle body serviced, got a service engine soon lamp, found out it was code P0507. Took it to my nissan dealer and they told me it was 4 codes. 221, 223, 1224 and the 507. WTF

i've noticed hesitation in shifting too myself. replaced the MAF once - that seemed to help alot. now just seems to shift really hard into second or third. not sure if related to the Injen or not.
I've had it for several months now and have no issues. While I lost a little edge on the lowend (my tires are grateful), I love the midrange. Once I get the headers and exhaust, we'll see how this whole setup (Injen CAI, Hotshot headers, Frankencar catback) works out.
But so far (Injen CAI & Cattman Y-pipe), no complaints.
She pulls like a champ.

And I cannot locate a similar page from k&n. I'd probably stick with the K&N until I have about $300 to blow on the injen and conduct some tests.

i admit that it seems to have a bit more pull with the injen - at higher RPMs. but my low end REALLY sucks! like a 4 cylinder base model civic!
i just get killed flat off the line againist anything!
i had the GAB before for awhile - a year or so ago before the injen. it was close to the injen in sound - although the injen is much louder at WOT! i think i recall a small low-end lose of power with it as well - just not as much.
tough call for me...i really love the sound and the high end of the injen...but geez! i keep going back and forth in my head...maybe i'll go back stock with K&N or stock with K&N and GAB.

im sure this has been discussed before, but why do we lose so much low end? from an engineering standpoint, whats allowing the stock to provide more low end? i think its time for some of the maxima old-timers (you know who you are!) to come up with some kind of mod (not quite a variable intake but whatever...) that gives the best of both worlds here. or is the GAB as good as it gets?
I'll work on something myself if someoene can explain it in detail....

The resonance chambers?
Not quite sure, but I think it has something to do with the difficulty of getting all of the air moving at lower speeds. But I guess somehow the stock airbox is better suited for doing that.
