The Injen filter is POS, it is falling apart on me after 4 washes in 1 year , the mesh is coming loose, the filment is tacky and crappy looking, the rubber housing it starting to come apart. The pipe still looks brand new from the day of purchase , inside and out though..

Are any of using Apexi, K&N, HKS or any other filter as a replacement?

ive always had good luck with K&N on all my cars. people say Apex'i is better because of the mesh filter, but you cant clean it like K&N, just replace it.

Are Apexi reasonably price like a K&N or are they a tad bit more because of the name?

guess who makes the Injen filter? K AND N .

Apexi is like 120 with mount plate.

Get out of here!
The K&N looks way durable than the filter that comes with the Injen...
I washed my filter every three months, basically seasonal, oil it properly and it looks like a hot mess.

the injen filter is a k&n look alike. they have them ebay for cheap because they are cheap. if i were to recommend a k&n, i would go with the ru-2820. its got almost twice the area of the injen, is fairly cheap for a k&n and is not opened ended in case you get too close to a puddle.

Yeah i thought so, i went to Apexi web site and i like the way the filter looks, seems better made and seems like it actually does something useful other than look pretty.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm getting my Injen CAI put in this weekend, so I'll pick a K&N RU2820 beforehand.

I have the apexi and I love it. The good thing about it is that it is a dry filter which means no oil, no blown maf. The bad thing about it is that you cant recharge and clean it so it last supposedly 100k miles and then you throw it out and get a new one.

when blubyu2k2 has his 2k2, it blew a maf with the apexi filter. just because it is dry does not mean it is guaranteed.

RU-2820 It's what I've been running for about a year.

Never said that it was guaranteed but you dont have to worry about over oiling it and getting the oil on the maf and I have heard more about people blowing maf with oiled filters than dry filters.

Hows your throttle response with the apexi filter?

The throttle response is great. I had K&N filters on both of my other maxs and I have to say that I like the Apexi filter than the K&N.

Sounds good to me! Even HKS offers a dry filter setup, and swears by the performance and quality over oiled filters. And Apexi and HKS are very reputable companies, evn though K&N is too. Oil on your MAFS thermisist can't be good over long term, everytime i cleaned my Injen filter i always had to clean a light film of oil off that thing, it wasn't made to have a film of oil on it.

Dry filters is the way to go for me! 100k is just fine! Oh i am getting a 3"bracket and Apexi filter for 85 bucks, is that a good price?

Thanks Sloppymax!! I've been wanting to replace my Injen filter but I've been too lazy to look up the info. There's some RU-2820s on
EBAY
for $28 + $10 shipping. I just ordered one.
