Hesitation Problem

Been haveing a problem while driving that the car acts like the spark pug if foul but when I step on the gas it sputters for a second and then runs like normal. Has anyone else had this problem?

that's just your car letting you know it wants to dance - you should get out and dance with it too! j/k wow no ses light huh? could be the gas you used- if you used 87 octane bump that puppy up to 91 or 93 if they have it in your area - good luck! peace

If it sputters REAL bad then you either have a fuel leak or the fuel pump is going bad(highly unlikely though considering the age of your car)

Gas is not the issue I only run 92 octane or better. I do have an ses light that says I have a bad o2 sensor behind the cat (federal emissions car). I have seen some other threads that suggest that my ECM needs reprogrammed or an ignition coil could be going bad. I am not sure what syptoms these two problems are. The o2 sensor is on order so I will see if it fixes the problem. Thanks for the help!!

The o2 sensor wont help. I have similar problem. Changed the o2 sensor, problem persists. Actually had the problem since i bought the car way back in october 2000. Dealer updated computer about 3 times, still car hesitates. Maybe the ignition coils are to blame. Can anyone confirm this ? After 80k miles i still haven't found solution to fix the hesitation.

o2 just monitors fuel/air mixture ratio - weather you change your o2 or not the car will run the same - i've had to replace the 2 rear o2 sensors and it ran fine when ses light was on , after repair it still ran the same as before! that's weird how it hesitates like that - only other thing i can think of is fuel injectors but you would probably get a code from the fuel injector sensors! possibly check fuel lines, rail, fuel pressure regulator- it seems like it runs fine after the hesitation for a second , it has to be something with the fuel getting thru! good luck let us know how it turns out! peace
