Steering wheel shaking, please help.

Hi all,

Lately my 2001 maxima's steering wheel shakes when i push the brake at the speed around 40-65mi/hr. After reading several thread here, i assume that the front rotor is getting uneven wear. What make me confuse is that my car is only have 25000 miles on it. So do you guys think that the disc/rotor could be the cause?

If it is yes, i saw a lot of brembo rotor sold at ebay. Another confuse is that i saw a lot of people here in this org complain about this rotor. Either noisy, or getting uneven wear rapidly. Would you guys verify me about this.

Some of the seller on ebay sell the sloted and drill, some of them sell only drill. So which one is the original Brembo?

Should i change the brake pad first, and see whether it is getting better by that?

Thanks a lot for your help guys.

Or just slow down and not drive like a maniac. Stock rotors and pads are not designed for high speed braking. Because of too many tickets I have started driving like a senior citizen and I have noticed many common maintenance items such as pads and rotors lasting much longer and being much smoother.

Also, I think if you put performance pads on stock rotors you are only going to damage the rotors. Atleast thats what happened to me. If you are going to invest in performance brakes do it right.

Stock rotors are designed to function properly at high speeds. You can put performance pads on stockers with no damage. With 25k, you should be able to take it back to the dealer and get them to grind the rotors for free. Had it done at 30 for the same problem.

murjose: step over to the DC forum in the regionals section. There are about 6 of us in G-burg/Rockville/Germantown.
