Blue light vs. Purple light in Umnitza X-Tec kits?..pic comparison

With respect to Umnitza's 600K X-tec HID kit, why does the light output appear to be purple in color when mounted in the fogs vs. blue in the headlamps? Any thoughts? I would prefer to have a slight purple hue in both.

the manufac. decides what color they are... maybee they sent you the wrong color? i would call who you bought them from and tell them. you can have blue, purple and even green HID's in 6000K.

i agree with you on the purple looking better. i have decided what i will put in my car! thanks!

i would ASSume that since both kits are exactly the same, that the lens has something to do with it. the foglight lens has "lines" going vertically in it, and is not as clear as the flat, perfectly clear plastic across the headlight. could it be that since the light is coming out of the foglight differently because of the lens, it gives off a more purplish look than in the headlights?

but i remember maxpol saying they matched perfect, so maybe its just the white settings on the cameras they were using that makes it look different.

Yeah, I can't see that being it; if the lens was colored, then it would filter the light differently...geometry would only affect the shape of light output. Might be the camera, too...but I think it's more along the lines of the bulb.

The headlight bulbs are supposed to be more on the blue side for 6000k according to Umnitza. Here is what Umnitza wrote in another post:

We asked them to make their 6000K on the bluer side of their tolerance levels.

But that doesn't make sence. They told me the D2R bulbs would match my fogs perfectly (didn't buy they yet - bought a CF hood instead).

THIS IS THE ACTUAL COLOR MINE PRODUCE

BTW BustaReims: Cameras play tricks on the eyes. Most can't catch the correct color.

I think your right....because his is in a projector that could also be the reason for different colors.

Yeah it is a projector and projectors do produce different colors especially when they are the ebay ones since they are not made for HIDs. They just displace the color.

There is a difference between cheap 20 autozone blue and hid blue. Most stock hids have blue in them.

It's the light output and the longetivity of the bulb. The autozone **** might look the same but it will change after long use.

this could also be another explanation because in different angles the light color is projected differently; just watch an e46 roll up behind you with all that mad flickering.
And yes, different companies have different ratings for what 6k is.

Yeah, that's why I started this thread...the only true blue HIDs I have seen is on the Boxster.

The picture is not completely accurate since there isnt as much white but that is color blue that mine is. Depending at what angle you look at it will have a little purple.
