G35 Rims....on!

* * * * * * * *
Well, put them on today...G35 coupe 18's with Toyo Proxes 4 235/40/18
(thanks to org 3rd/4th gen member FASHIZL (Delvin) for mounting them up for me, by the way! Delvin is THE MAN!)

Did some spirited driving and have some impressions
These are compared to my OEM 17's with Falken 512 235/45/17, by the way:

-Handling: Better...car stays flatter in turns, although steering feels a little heavier, thanks to wider track.

-Ride: Surprisingly, the ride with this setup is BETTER than the 17's/Falkens...car feels much more solid over big and small bumps, and highway ride is about the same.....VERY happy with this!

-Noise: On smooth roads, definitely quieter than the Falken/17's.....on rougher roads, about the same...

-Accelleration: The butt-dyno noticed only a small loss of accelleration, if any. Might have been my imagination, since I was expecting a loss of accell. Also it's a very windy day here, so that might have affected it...

-Grip: The dry-grip on accelleration is not quite as good as the Falkens...I managed to break the tires loose a bit easier on clean, flat pavement. Cornering grip seems about the same, though the car sits flatter, with less body roll....

-Issues: Only one: the rear wheel center caps will not fit on, thanks to the dust cap on the hubs. I think I can use a hammer to ding in the sides of the dust cap so the center caps will fit, but I'll save that for another day...

-Other: I'm using McGard splined black lug nuts and locks. They go on extremely smooth and the spline tool is easy to use (and fits right into the OEM lug wrench, though I used a torque wrench when I put the wheels on). I also used the center caps from Jason (soonerfan's) old GXE wheels (thanks Jason), but I painted them to look nice (IMO)...

-Looks: front wheel is just about flush with the fender, about 1/2" in. The rear wheel is about 1" in.....The look is exactly what I was looking for and really makes the car look kind of "european" IMHO.

BUT...I'm sure you don't care about my WORDS...so here is the visual:

it looks really good, especially with the black lugs and center cap. its funny how all the other OEM wheels a manufacturer makes always look better on a car then the ones that came with it. the accord guys always did this too. very classy irish!

I like them!! It's a good look for the Max. Any rubbing? And how much do G-35 rims cost anyway?

no rubbing (and I did some speed bumps to try), since I did not use G35-size tires

I used 235/40/18, the G35 stock sizes are 225/45/18 (F) and 245/45/18 (R)

You can find used ones on G35 forums F/S for about $600 without tires and about $800-1K with the Pilot A/S in OEM G35 sizes...

From a dealer, they are $800 EACH! (the MAxima SE 17's from a dealer are about $650 each..)

Looks great. Not sure if I'm going to mount mine or sell them. BTW - Those wheels are about 25-27 lbs. which could affect the accelaration and handling.

that wasnt necessary...i work very hard for my car, and i have very little money to actually have fun....(its not at mcdonalds either)...if you want to flame me for having a nice car at my age, then thats fine...whatever floats your boat, but just for the record, i really do work hard for it, thank you very much...

By my digital scale, they weigh 23-34 lbs while the OEM 17's weigh 25....
obviously the center of mass is moved farther out, but I can't feel a significant difference in accelleration...and I did some track starts in a nearby parking lot...
