Hid installed... question about black rubber cover on 2000 head light

http://www.cardomain.com/id/lala1984

i just installed a 6000 HID kit on my max.... but i can't put the black rubber cover back on the back of the light housing with out cutting the rubber half way.... my question is..... can i run it without that rubber cover? or is that gonna shortern my HID's life? or i have to cut the rubber half way to make it fit back?

thanx for advice

without it, you will get condensation in the housing...that is the seal to keep water out...
