Anyone else have bascially stock maxima?
I just wanted to know who else is out there that has a stock maxima (things like lights, acc's, etc dont count) because i look at peoples pictures and cardomain pages and i feel like i have the like most boringest looking maxima out there. Anyone else feel the same way? Maybe after you see your car everyday it starts to bore you a little.... I want to customize my car so that it is unique....not copy off of everyone (but some peoples ideas are great) but i dont got a lot of money (im only 17) and im paying for this car so i dont have like lots of $$$ to spend on custimization.

Don't get caught up with trying to be unique. My interior is completely stock. All my mods are listed in my signature. I think what is more impressive is a clean Maxima with black tires than one with all the APC stuff glued and bolted on.
If you want to improve the look of your car, the best and most noticeable thing to do is get wheels and tires. Before you get that, remember to get lowering springs first.
Blue LEDs, neon, washer nozzle lights, clear corners, and stickers just ain't my thing.

i'm pretty much stock. just my bulb upgrades all around the car, ae door sills, 35% tints in front, 20% tints in rear, and grille tech grille lower inserts.
i don't know much about perfomance mods nor am i really mechanicaly inclined so i tend to stay away from them.

Stock here as well...I have a Pioneer P8600MP HU that I put in my old Maxima, and took it out when I sold it a couple weeks ago and got my 02. I don't think Im gonna waste my money to get it installed in the new Max, I kinda like the in-dash 6cd, even thought its a pos.
The most I will do 2 it is tint the windows, and probably put some rims on it...But not more than that. My interior will stay stock.
But at 17, you are well on your way. I was in college at 17, and didn't have a whip, and probably couldn't afford one. Take your time...Don't get caught up in everyone else's Max...As long as you are happy with your car, that's all that matters...
Good luck

My Max is pretty stock for now...JWT pop charger and custommaxima fsb. Personally I'd rather put my money in to performance mods; after putting the pop charger on my car, it had a growl to it, especially at WOT. To me, that makes my car unique. Personally, right now i'm going for the sleeper look so that I don't attract too many cops.
If you're short on cash, i'd stick to performance mods. With wheels and body kits you have to drop close to a grand on that stuff brand new. With $200 you can pick up a y-pipe and give your max a good 10-15 hp gain.
But to each, his own...

Count me in as well. The only two things I couldnt deal with was the factory stereo and lack of fogs on my GXE. Bought 18"s and had them for 2 yrs, and got rid of them. Mods make a very bad investment, make your car attractive to thieves, and increase the chance smthg will go wrong with it. Even stock, 5 yrs later it can still hold its on compared to many cars on the road, yet comfortable enough...no regrets of having a stock car.

mods drop the value of your car significantly. i don't remember but there was an article on it. mainly because anyone who wants mods will buy a stock car so they can do the stuff themselves the way they want to and the mods they want. and not just call someone else's work their own. as for the average person they dont want something with mods because they're not sure if something is more likely to break or how good a job was done with the install.

Modded cars loose value not because the buyers don't like the mods, but because the modded cars are more likely to be driven by "enthusiasts" who will drive the car 'till the wheels fall off, and then are trying to dump the lemon to someone else.
I'm about in the same boat as Zero Deuce, and would have to agree. I too am bone stock aside from window tint. You have a pretty nice car for a 17 yr old, so stock is not so bad. Instead of dropping a lot of $$$ on mods, just keep it running good and try to save for a house or something! THEN you can "play".

Completely stock here. I bought a whole bunch of stuff at once to mod the car but decided against it and sold everything to a buddy of mine. The couple of things I probably will get is a new aftermarket HU as the BOSE is on its last legs and 6000K bulbs. Other than that, my modding days are over. I figure too much hassle selling or trading in the car, and unwanted police attention.
My max is besically stock, too. I've got rims coming, and I've put on clear corners and changed a couple bulbs. But that's basically all I'm going to do. Oh, and add a sub to the stock Bose system. But otherwise I'm going to keep it mostly stock. It's not worth it to totally customize a car that has a 5-10 year practically servicable life anyways. Unless, of course, you're rich and have money to burn. Then you can add as much crap as you want and it won't matter.
mine is pretty stock too, honestly, the stock 17" wheels are nice enough and i like the looks of the maxima stock except for the ride height. i have clear sides, y pipe, and my progress springs are in transit as i type. maybe you should get tires? poortenzas might make you mad sometimes.
stock here except for 35% front and 20% rear tint, I like the stock wheels so I prolly won't change them. I think this will be the first time I don't purchase aftermarket wheels for a car. Fixing to install system next week, other than that, I might lower the front a tad to get the 4 x 4 look off, other than that I don't plan on doing anything. I would have loved to have had a maxima when I was 17. Prolly a good thing I didn't though. :-) And I don't think a 17 year old looks like he is driving his moms car. Save your money for the rainy days. Sure wish I had when I was younger.
I guess it all depends on how much attention you want to attract to your car and how comfortable you are in it. This is my 3rd Max and I have always liked the simple, extremely clean look. The maxima is a great looking and performing car to begin with...Keeping it extra clean I think makes it stand out a lot.
Currently I have clear front and rear corners, I purchased the car and it already had 35% tints. I have added some nice audio stuff. Thats it. Just keeping it clean like in the sig.

in the two years i've had my car the first thing i did was get 13% tint all around, clear sidemarkers in the front (i bought the rears but I like them red), FSTB, and RSB. Oh and I spent over a thousand dollars on my system lol. I still consider my car all stock. of course that will all change if the TS ecu GD goes through. for those that don't browse around the .org, check out the GD section.
stock here.
I think putting you $$$ in maintaining the car is the best option. Who cares if you car isnt the one that makes all heads turn. As long as you know your car is running great and you have fun riding it, it is what matters.
save some cash to buy your parents a nice gift since theyve probably been paying a lot for you.

i agree w/ MrPoisse, I would rather have a strong reliable running car then a car heavily modded but on its last leg. Even though the maxima is a solid car i do not mind having to pay more for Mobil 1 and other necessary service. Since I am only 17 i don't have too much cash to do stuff but i do have AE door sills, clear corners, tint, Z horns, and other minor mods that I am content with having and don't want much more.
i had a stock maxima.
don't get me wrong, a clean stock max looks good, it's just that it looks like every other stock max. i'm the type of person that likes a little cosmetic differentiation/uniqueness.
there are very few 'stock' cars (mostly high end) that wouldn't benefit from a little modding imo.
...on the other hand performance modding was never really my 'thing'. i've always done minor performance mods like intake, exhaust, and suspension...but stuff like FI, NOS, anything having to do with the tranny, and anything past the intake i don't screw with. i've found that those mods require more troubleshooting and can have more of a negative effect on the long term reliability of the car. plus the 3.5L is a beast on it's own.

100% pure stock with the exception of a tint. I figure, I've got better things to do with my time and money at this stage in my life.
BTW, at 17, that's a pretty sweet ride for your age. And your car doesn't, not even in the least, look like your mom's. At stock, your car's a beast of a vehicle. And besides, some people just try too hard...

Relatively stock. I have a set of 18's (using stockies until summertime), but no tint, stock stereo (transferring stereo from my 3rd Gen Max after I decide on components), FSTB on the way in the mail. This car has more power and torque than my 3rd Gen, so outside of some simple cosmetic changes I have planned (light-medium grey tint, clear bumper lights, real aluminum dash kit, diamond-plate floor mats, splash guards (GXE's don't have them
), projectors/HID kit, and possibly sinking it a few inches & dropping a flip-down monitor in the back for my sons once it's paid for), I don't think it needs much more done to it. My interior is stock grey cloth, but moms hooked me up with a couple of pillows for my sons in the back seat
I'm going to see if I can find some Nissan/Nismo patches and ask her to sew them on the pillows for me...
After slowly modding my 3rd Gen before it's untimely demise just after Christmas last year, I've come to appreciate that the simplest things make the most difference, and you don't need to be unique so much as to enjoy the ride to the fullest, no matter what you do with your car, just remember it's YOUR car, YOUR tastes & YOUR preferences because the fact of the matter is that you are spending YOUR MONEY on it. A clean ride speaks volumes about the owner, and is something that can always be appreciated - just like a crisp, gleaming-white t-shirt, or your girl greeting you at the door wearing nothing but your work shirt & her underwear
.
People are always going to find something to be critical about, so pay attention to what you like and take it where you want to go with it.
Good Luck, Young Skywalker...

im pretty much stock myself, first thing i did was tint the windows and I hooked up 2 12"s in the back. Once NY AutoStyle launched, i had to add something otherwise i would be completely stock.. so i got the 18" maya's and thats it. Bought a bodykit and never put it on....I wish i had saved my money on the wheels considering i paid 2,500 for them and now they are probably 1500 =(... so like everyone else said, just spend ur money wisely and you will be happy with what you got. most mods just lower the value of the car, hence the reason why i havent put the body kit on.
