Replace stock 5.5 with Altima SE-R shifter?

I was at Nissan and noticed the 260 hp Altima SE-R. Nice car! (Except for FWD), but at $29,XXX, I think people will prefer the 300 hp AWD WRX STI @ $32,XXX (I know I would) - too bad STI was not avail. in '02.....

Anyway, I really liked the beautiful 6 spd. shifter the Altima comes with. Any one here know if we can swap that with our stocker (5.5)? Thanks.

Regards,

You can but its a bad fittment, and also its the same travel as the 2k2 6-speeds. Comparing the 2k2 and the se-r altimas shifters the maximas is so much better built. The maxima shifter cost 300 dollars to replace while the ser is only a mere 60 dollars or something like that.

Do you mean the entire assembly or just the shiftknob... In my opinion, the stock 6spd **** in the 02-03 Max looks better than the one in the Altima SE-R... I would try to locate the 6spd **** that comes on the R34 Skyline GT-R... Pretty much looks the same but with an "R" engraved...

Thanks guys,

yep, I was referring to the looks of the shifter. I like the shifter chrome ring, would complement the gauge rings (which I still gotta get), and the nice little Nissan chrome burger on the steering wheel. I had a feeling we could not do an entire swap (meaning the whole shift kit). Also, these Altimas and 6th gen. Maxes have triple cone syncros (whatever that is) from 1st to 2nd. Our 5.5's have double. That's technology I guess. It is interesting to compare Maxima brochures as the years go by. Wish I had 'em all....
