Wow!

Just got my short throw shifter installed and all I can say is WOW. What a difference it makes on my 2k. I feel like I am driving a porsche now. I barely have to move my hand and the shifts are so tight it feels like the car is brand new. I highly recommend this mod.

2kblue....It's the pacesetter short throw shifter, and I got it from Custom Maxima about two summers back. I FINALLY got it installed........shame on me for waiting. Custom Maxima has since stopped carrying this specific shift **** and has manufactured one with thier name on it. The Pacesetter sts carries a 3 year warranty against manufacturing defects. I still can't get over how smoothe and short the shifting is. The actual shifter is not that much shorter, but the throws are right along the lines of a G35 coupe 6 speed. I really like it. I topped it off with an anniversary edition shift ****. I asked a few weeks back about the 2002 console conversion in a 2k maxima but I can't find the thread. I'll have to keep looking, as I will be putting in a 2002 console as soon as I can find one, just to complete the package.

the "console conversion" is a piece of cake...requires virtually no thought at all...you just have to attach the shift boot slightly differently, otherwise it's completely plug and play (so to say)...

before I put the AE **** on..

Irish, what brand of short throw shifter do you have? I am defnitely buying the center console now. The metal on the anniversary edition shift **** will look perfect with the metal ring around the bottom of the shift boot

Irish, is that metal at the bottom of the shift boot a part of the new shift boot you bought?

Nope, you have to either get the one that HP autoworks sells or TWM.

With the six speed it does not change the shifter stalk or anything to deal with the reverse lock out. The sts actually relocates the shifter cable under the hood.

i have the pacesetter as well, ive had it in for almost 2 years, how high do u have the ball set at, i have mine set to the highest setting, so the shifter sits as low as possible and then got a new **** that sits lower than the stocker, it kaes my shifter look like it was cut in half, much better than stock. if u do that u have to remove the heat shield from above the cat, if u didnt already.

have any of u guys used a weighted shift ****, i just experimanted with one last week, omg thats my next mod, with the short throw its so nice and much easier to move.

I believe mine is set to the lowest, although the Shifter itself does not look much lower. The height of the shifter is at a very comfortable level for my hand right now. Yes, I had to have the heat shield removed. I called custom maxima about it and they said the install shop should have hammered out the center of the heat shield and then replaced it. Hammering out the center allows more clearance for the lowered shifter, allowing it to be re-installed. I called my local Nissan Dealership and the service manager told me not to worry about the heatshield, it should not affect anything at all. ColdSHO-How does your shifter feel? Mine is very tight right now and I would like it to loosen up at least a little bit. Let me know.
