i would sue the driver or his company for the depreciation on your car as well. when you need to sell your car you are gonna get screwed because it was hit. insurance does not cover depreciation, you have to goto court for that. trust me it is worth going to court for it, and if you have a injury suit, you might as well as just throw the depreciation right on in there. my best friend had his 300M get t-boned and when he went to sell it a year later he lost $2000 of its sellable value thanks to the jacka** that hit him...

That is one of the many reasons I change roads when near an 18 wheeler. Hope you get your car repaired( or a new one).

No need to worry about the trucker, he'll get his own.

You need to use this incident and turn it into a positive thing. Go to a Dr ASAP and gt fully checked out, then find a decent personal injury attorney, and he will know what to do. Sooner this is done, better chance you will have in winning anything should the case go to court. Instruct your atty to make sure to collect the money for diminished value.
If you had any modding plans at all, go to the right bodyshop that will work with you, like install an aftermarket body kit in lieu of OEM parts, and won't charge you extra for any "custom work" because you gave them your business...

Agreed - you should absolutely get checked out by a doctor. Tell him all the places you hurt, even if you think it's no big deal. Then make sure all that information gets onto the insurance claim.

My mom has dealt with chronic wrist pain due to a car accident that happened 15 years ago. Life is too short to have to take pain killers all the time, or worse yet, to have to live with chronic pain. That's what doctors and insurance companies are for, to take care of you if you're hurt in an accident.

Ouch, good to hear you reacted fast or the damage could have been much worse and you could be in bad shape.

And not to make light of this too much, but is anyone else getting Terminator flashbacks from these pics?...

Glad you're alright.

Don't give any recorded statements. Don't discuss anything about any injuries until after the car is fixed or replaced/paid market value plus sales tax and registration. Ask about a rental car during repairs. Don't take out insurance on the rental car....make sure you own auto insurance extends to the rental for collision/comp/liability. SEE YOUR DOCTOR!!! Contact your own insurance company and see if your policy has Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits....works kind of like your own health insurance. At the very least get some physical therapy....light exercise, stretching, massage, ultrasound. Feel free to PM me with any questions. I manage a Claims Litigation Team for an auto insurance company. Good luck!!

Wow, sorry to hear that, stupid Semi, I always fret when there is one passing by me. The damage didn't look so severe, it look like it really held up pretty good.

Guys, sorry I didnt report back.

But the car was fixed, I guess my max got a shaved *** (either way you look at it) out of this. I was able to have the shop guys fill the emblem holes and leave the entire trunk lid without any emblems. It looks pretty cool. I will post some pics when I get a chance.

Thanks all for your replies. Appreciate it all.

It must have been a scary experience having a semi hit you like that. I would see a doctor and get your injuries (if you have any) documented. Just in case. Insurance should take care of your car and it looks like you'll be getting a new car. I'm not sure I would want them to rebuilt the car anyway. Good luck

So it obviously (from what I read) wasn't totaled.

Yeah the car was fixed, I think it turned out ok since all the damage was to the top of the trunk since the semi is higher up it didnt smash into the bottom where it woudl cause frame damage and such (atleast this is what i have been told). They checked the roofline, door panels etc etc.. and the damage was concentrated just to the trunk, rear glass and didnt got farther. The shop replaced all the parts with new ones not recycled and its a GEICO select shop so they warranty the repair job for the life of the car and if I need something re-fixed I again have the option to take it to any shop of my choice to get it re-fixed. So I am satisfied.

I was a bit worried about them totalling the car since I didnt want to get a settlement and then have to spring for more money to get a comprable car... I dont like the new maxes and will have to pay more for that Altima SE-R thing to get an LSD, or any other car such as WRX I'd have to pay more out of pocket which I am not in shape to do at this point. I am very happy that the car was fixable.
