Removing MudGuards on 00

Hey guys, I'm going to be putting on my Stillen Kit in about 2 weeks and I wanted to take off the mudguards but I couldn't get a great angle so I assume I'm going to have to either get a flexible screwdriver or take off the wheels to do it...For those of you who have done this, how was the condition of the paint behind them?

I took them off just for the hell of it when I did my DDEs and had my wheel off. They are back on now, but IIRC the paint was fine, just a bit of dirt that would have to be cleaned off. I guess it's probably different on the 5.5gen than on yours, but there were two screws on the inside part of the wheel well and there was one screw underneath. You might be able to get at the two in the wheelwell if you just turn the wheel all the way so that it's sticking out by the headlights and sticking in by the mudguard. Then just use a stubby screwdriver to reach the screws on the mudguard. It should be pretty simple.
