Labor charges, The Book they refer to:
Ok, Im just wondering if there is a website or something that we can go to for this Magical book auto mechanics use to see how many hours labor to charge customers for installations. Im just curious because i want to have my UDP's installed. and i don't want to get jipped. I've seen people pay anything from 30 bucks to 150. So if anyone knows where i can look up this type of info. it would help a ton.
plus i need:
-Pads
-lines
-rotors
-brake fluid exchange
all done, front and rear. got a bunch of steallin goodies here.

i don't know about you guys...but whenever i call places...i get the fealing the people there hate people who call in. they always treat you like your a burden and that your not serious...which is why i generally walk into places and ask stuff like this. which i plan to do. but i like to go in informed so i dont just say...ok, that sounds fair to the first one...and so i dont waste all day bouncing from one place to another.

The book you're talking about called the Mitchell Manual labor. I know what your'e talking about, generally it's around like 68-70 bucks an hour. Lucky it's not a Benz cuz I took my Mercedes to have something worked on and they cost 78 bucks an hour on labor. Thank god i'm mechnically competent to know about cars but a few execption such as the tranny.

My mechanic, who only works on foreign cars i usually $60/hr. But the thing is - if you ask him up front how much it will cost to do something - he will quote you by the book. If you don't ask and just do it - it comes out much cheaper
