Just have advance timing performed, my car still slow. please help.

Hi all,
This morning i brought my car to dealer to have advance timing to 17 degree. The car runs very smooth now with 80rpm lower at idle.
I have Y pipe, k&N Intake, and straight cat. Also i fill the gas with 92 octane.
But why it is still 8.3 secs from 0-60mi/hr.
My car is 5 gen auto trany and 26000miles only on it.

Do you guys suspect anything wrong with my car? like VIAS or MAF?

Before i change the timing, Y pipe, Straight cat, and K&N intake about a week ago, i got 8.8 secs. So generally after doing those mod i only get 0.5 secs faster.

Please help.
Thanks in advance.

Coils should throw a code, lighting the 'service engine soon'. It doesn't feel rough at idle or higher RPM? I'd check VIAS first, since it's cheap and easy. Then check MAF.

0-60 isn't a good indicator for performance, especially for a ypipe...get a dyno.

Don't take this personally, since I don't know you or your driving style.

Have you considered the possibility that you just don't know how to drive a manual quickly? How and when do you shift when you're trying to get fast acceleration?

Just by reading the post of most all the posts here, some other guys would have ripped the other guys apart, just for using 0-60 (gtech) not reading and seeing it was an auto ... etc etc .. Props ..

BTW, Adi G. Wijaya, how much did it cost and what did you tell them when requesting the srvice?

Lol. Sorry. Instead of "5 gen" I somehow saw "5 spd."

My bad.

I do advance timing at nissan dealer. It cost me $43 after tax.

So do you guys think that the problem on the VIAS.
I feel the worst acceleration at 1000-3700RPM.

No way to know for sure, except by either:

A)Removing the VIAS box and looking inside.
or
B)Getting a dyno.

Getting a dyno would be a good thing, but the automatic will only show results above 3.7k-4k.

I think he uses a stop watch...which is still equally dumb. Maybe he just doesn't know how to launch? Or his tires really suck?

And to whoever said 5th gens are high 7 second cars: 5th gens are high 6 second cars. 5spds being close to mid-6.

i always had the impression autos were 7.8 and 5spds were 6.7, best time for car and driver or soemthing. 5spd had the 16's also.

Don't magazine race. It's one thing I learned here on the org. I've seen autos here 1/4 their cars within .200 of a 5spd. I personally have ran against mid-to-high 6 second cars and either kept up neck and neck, or won. For example, most magazines said that the Lexus SC430 does 0-60 in about 6.1 seconds and 1/4 in low 14s. My brother tracked his car and did 0-60 in 5.7 and 1/4 in 13.8. Just gotta' break a car in properly before you test it -- car mags don't do that.

I don't know whose fault is it. eventhough i am using a stopwatch, but still i will not make a mistake more than 1 sec discrepancy. Anyway this car is the s**kest i have ever had. Bought it as a junk car only here. It had falken 512 Ziex on it now.
Only if this car can be brought home, than it will easily bit by my driver's car. He got old 93 civic 0-60 only take 7.0 secs.
Also i am sure i know how to floor a car, i drove F 360 Modena back home. I race a lot, i modify other car a lot, and i race a lot since there is no speed limit on my country. So don't have to worry drive 150mi/hr on the highway.
Just don't want to spend more money on this car, and will sell it within 3 months (after graduation).
I am sorry if i am too dumb infront of your eyes.

1. Don't use a stopwatch if ya want the timing to be accurate.

2. Take it to a dyno or 1/4 mile track. Maybe do some runs yourself and then have someone else do a couple of runs to make sure it really is the car.

3. If you have a driver and an F360 at home then I'm sure you coulda been able to afford a faster car here, so maybe this isn't worth your hassle at all.

4. Racing a lot, modding cars, and driving a Ferrari does not equate to being a good driver, or being good at "flooring" a car.

5. I'm sorry if this car isn't up to your standards since ya bought it as your "junk car".

6. Its "beat" not "bit".

i doubt just two degrees on timing adjustment would yield any noticeable results

my coils did not throw a code... it was hesitating and having bad accel, so i took her to the dealership, and it had a bad coil. and the VQ30 VIAS does not open till 5200rpm i thought...
