Best rear sway bar???

Anyone want to give props for the best rear sway bar? Looking at getting one, and want to be sure its the only one ill ever buy.

While were at it, Is Cattman's FSTB the best one yet?

Thanks!

Cattman, Addco, and Progress are all the same bar, with different names basically.

The stillen bar is easier to install (if that's possible) but does the same thing.

All are just as good as the others....

as to FSTB, all are the same. The cattman LOOKS nice, but does exactly the same thing as a $20 ebay FSTB....

yes i know josh you're probably sick of me and my questions by now...

edit: this question would probably make more sense if i included the link to what i was refering to...

"best" is too subjective, especially with car parts.

I have the stillen one and its the only one that is adjustable. How often you'll actually need adjustment is unknown

that's the excuse I use with my Stillen RSB too

that said, I've never felt a need to adjust it!

XGaSpAcHo, that's the same bar I have, the Otto one....fits well, good quality. Yes, you should torque the bolts to factory spec (I don't remember what spec is, but check a Haynes manual or FSM...)

maxima-ness - the website is being developed and isn't working. Try temaxima@hotmail.com for inquiries. And the *** is a long story, better left unsaid

Progress RSB... good price, fast shipping, easy install, no fitment issues, and good performance.

Do NOT overtighten the nuts as the bolts are real easy to brake off. I'm on the road this week so I don't have access to the FSM, but from memory, the torque is somewhere around 35 ft-lb.

Here's a nice pic for you.

the factory torque setting is 32 ft-lb. the recomennded is 32-35 ft-lb. do not overtighten, you can strip the nuts, and that sux. rent a torque wrench from autozone for free.

that right there is exactly the reason i'm afraid to do this myself. i think i'll just take it to my body shop or mechanic if i decide to order the FSTB. thanks guys.

Adding a FSTB isn't rocket science. You just need the right tools. Buy a tq. wrench. You can pick a decent one on ebay for about half of Sears' prices and you'll keep it for life.

I think he is looking for a rear sway bar that is connected to the rear suspension. I got it off a GD here on the org.

Will a sway bar alone make a difference in a gle that is driven normally(not racing or doing crazy stuff?) Is it a breeze to install. Where are the instructions to it? In the "How to's" both links are dead.

A front strut tower brace is literally something that you could install in your driveway with just a few tools in a few minutes. Just pop the hood, remove six nuts, put the bar on, and put the six nuts back.

The rear sway bar is also an easy install, but it will take longer, and you will need a good jack and some jack stands to hold the rear of the car up while you're working under it. I'm not sure about the Maxima install, but on my Sentra, the RSB required me to use a small spacer to relocate my e-brake cable by about half an inch. On Sentras with ABS, there is one other line that needs to be moved, but it's fairly easy. Since our Maximas all have ABS, I assume it would be the same for us.

Sorry I didn't answer your first question with my last post.

A rear sway bar alone isn't going to make your car into a sports car, but it will do more than a front strut tower brace or rear strut tower brace alone, and it will make your ride feel more solid around curves. You'll feel like your car is leaning less, and you'll find yourself slowing down less for curves. I think it's a worthwhile mod, and you'll like the new feel of your ride if you do, as you say, "drive normally."

If you do plan to start "racing or doing crazy stuff," you'll need to combine the rear sway bar with better tires, stiffer springs and dampers, and other mods like a lower tie bar, subframe connectors, and front and rear strut tower braces (even though the strut tower braces are probably the least dramatic suspension mod, they're cheap, and people like to have them to "complete the package").

are there any safety issues if you're involved in an accident with the FSTB on your car?

Just to add, the Progress/Cattman RSB's are adjustable. Not as easy as the Stillen, but adjustable nevertheless.
