ok guys,ideas for new muffler

I am getting rid of my frankencar muffler. I believe it is too restrictive. I know these mufflers are generic but this is the style i am looking at getting. Any other ideas??

if you want twin tips in the first picture.....Cattman or HKS is the only way to go.....

i personally own the cattman and I love it...no raspy sound what so ever.....just a nice deep mellow tone all through the RPM band....it does drone kind of a bit if u start off in 6th gear at like 60mph entering the freeway....but at around 70-75ish it goes away.....

I don't have experience with the HKS....but I heard its pretty expensive (cost more than cattman and cattman is already $350)....and heard its louder than cattman's too....i dunno FOR SURE though....

Dude just got me the HKS sport dual tip and it rocks... sweet nice tone not raspy at all ...the hks comes with 2 1/4 inch piping so i continued it up to the catalytic. I hear that with an emptied cat it would sound way louder plus more HP but you may risk it soundin raspy and ricey..HKS for sure meng.

Well, I am not road tripping my max anymore so the sound I am not concerned with. I just want more freeflow. The muffler pics I put up are only $60. But is the quality going to sucka$$?

the quality wont necessarily be bad, but the way the muffler is going to sound is entirely upto how the piece was put together, most of these mufflers are made in china or taiwan. My past cars and same with friends cars had never had problems using generic mufflers, just have a good welder make yo the piping with correct diameter and also a resonator.

I like the HKS Dual or the Cattman if you're gonna ditch the FC... personally, I'm still looking for a used/cheap Stillen rear cuz I like the single tip look (but not huge like the GReddy Evo).... if I could my hands on one of those Pro Drives they have for the WRX and make it fit, that'd be ideal...

The Powertech 1011 looks a lot like the first picture. Its loud but I'm pretty happy with it. Really deep sound on my 3.5.

Correct me if I am wrong, but changing just the muffler does't do much for power, maybe a gain of 1-3 hp, but that ain't nothin. Why not just save up and buy a decent cat-back system?

He has the Frankencar cat-back already and wants a less restrictive muffler with his headers and FC b-pipe...

I actually want a deeper and louder sound, but mainly straight thru design. Like I said before, no more traveling for the max, so the loudness is not a concern.

Let me know if you are thinking about selling your FC. I want quieter exhaust than my Greddy SP.

for the Cattman. I have the Cattman axle-back and really like the tone. With an added aftermarket B (mid) pipe, this muffler sounds really good 00MaxSE has this setup as well.

To me the stock muffler sounds f###ing awesome coupled with a 2 1/2" bpipe, test pipe, and y pipe. At low rpms and normal driving you can't even hear it, but once over 4k rpm it lets out this really aggressive growl.

Btw harmbone, i don't think you will see any gains from switching to a different muffler. If there are gains it would be minute and probably not worth switching.

Get Headers, Downpipe and Catback, but keep the stock muffler, seems to work the best and is actually a well made muffler for performance!!!

If you really want to go pimp get the carbon fiber style of the APEXI. With the titanium color tip. it still has same shape has the one your looking at now. It will cost you more but it will look reeeeaaallllll good.

Do not forget about Remus mufflers. They sound so darn good on 6 cylinders...

I was looking into a titanium muffler for weight savings but I never found a design I liked.

hks carbon ti looks good and its around 280-300 for the muffler, deluboz on ebay sells polished and flat 100% titanium mufflers for 150, theres always JIC,Greddy TI, Magnaflow Ti, etc.. etc.. but my friend with the 150 dollar titanium muffler sounds real good on his Lexus Is300 with intake and custom catback to that muffler
