Dreaded 1-2 shift slip..Questions inside

I understand a few 2003-2003 owners have replaced your a/t's under warranty ...

1.) How many miles did it last before failing?
2.) What were the symptoms?
3.) What did you tell the dealer was the issue?
4.) Did anyone have headers at the time they had it replaced?
5.) What maintenance had you performed prior to it failing?
6.) Did the factory follow the TSB and change only the VB, or did the replace the whole tranny?
7.) If they only replaced the VB, did it help at all?

Lately, mine has exhibited a slip but only from the 1-2 shift, not any of the others (48k miles) I had my fluid flushed last week, not sure of the other owners maintenance habits, odds are they hadn't changed it before me.

I've read a few TSB's about the slipping/hard shifts etc.
One of the TSB states to only replace the valve body .. not the whole tranny, how did you fellas get them to do otherwise?

I'm still under the 60k powertrain warranty, but I have headers, then there's the whole deal with the Magnusson(sp) warranty act and such, I'll try that, but it's not in my favor... so I guess I could probably kiss my Nissan repair down the tubes.

On the bright side, I've also purchased an extended warranty for 100k/5yrs from the day I bought the car, but this warranty does not require me to have Nissan perform any of the work, so I might be good there.

1.) How many miles did it last before failing? Can't remember, only have 27k
2.) What were the symptoms? Long lag between 1-2 shift
3.) What did you tell the dealer was the issue? they didn't know
4.) Did anyone have headers at the time they had it replaced? no
5.) What maintenance had you performed prior to it failing? Flushed tranny and added cooler
6.) Did the factory follow the TSB and change only the VB, or did the replace the whole tranny? Replaced the VB
7.) If they only replaced the VB, did it help at all? a little but still has a crappy 1-2 shift

I'm still very much interested in this topic!!! Not sure what to do at this point.... so anyone with experience chime in.

Seems true from what I've read, most people that had only the VB changed, have not noticed a very big/noticeable improvment, I'm not excpecting aftermarket performance, but back to the way it was would be nice.

Just get an aftermarket Vb and the cooler. That will solve the problem I believe...

I would think so, but if it's the tranny dying and not the VB, tht would not be that cool. It's strange that just the 1-2 is phukked. And plus, why spend when you don;t have to, eventually I would like to do this mod, but would rahter hve the dealer do whay they can for free ...
