2K - 2K1 Short shifter thread
So im just wondering what short shifters you guys use. I found a bunch of generic ones, the B&M, the pacesetter, and stillen. Ill post some links below.
BTW I can get the pacesetter for about half the price

Pacesetter
Stillen
i've driven maximas with all three (stillen, b&m, and pacesetter). Stillen is the way to go because it stiffens up the factory shift feeling while significantly reducing throw. The b&m and pacesetter are too notchy and stiff.
Pacesetter is the only one that is height adjustable

This is a mod where that saying goes "You get what you pay for" applies. Do not get the Pacesetter or anything similar. I had it on my car for over 3 years and that thing was garbage. Shifts become notchy and take WAY too much effort to shift. It gets to the point where you dont even enjoy driving your car anymore. So it's adjustable, who cares? In all honesty that's the one thing that drew me in. But you will never ever take everything apart just to adjust it a few centimeters or so. Maybe once in the beginning but I highly doubt much more than that.
I went with the B&M and have had it since summer of 2K4. Not nothchy at all and it brought the fun into driving my Max again. I've heard good things about the Stillen as well so I think you will be good with either one.
Stay away from the Pacesetter or anything made like it.

i like B&M because of the finish... stillen is expensive too. i bought my car used and the shifter is all sloppy and garbage. i swear it's aftermarket because the ratio feels short. or perhaps it's the 95-99 shift lever. anyways, i gotta upgrade as well. whichever i get a good deal on i'll go for
anything with the exception of pacesetter is better than stock, which features plastic components such as the shift ball and pieces of the bracket
stillen and b&m uses all machined aluminum components

OK, I had the customenterprise shifter and it is complete garbage. Had the same issues as one of you guys above "took all fun out of driving" you have to be heman to downshift. Anyone interested in buying mine "only used for 2 days" just like new! I have been wondering about this one, looks nice and only $89 bucks

I've got the B&M and I love it. It did feel a bit notchy at first, but it feels great now. Although I have nothing to compare it to except for the stock shifter.
BTW, OOmaxSE, nice user name you got there. haha
