my BOSE system is acting up...i dont have any sound at all on the left side when set to CD player, but AM/FM works with all speakers...is this just a loose wire connecting the CD player to the rest of the system???

i dont remember where i got the install kit... i think i got it on ebay..
i got the PAC adapter for the blose so the aftermarket HU can work with stock wiring ... difficulty was minimal ... did the install myself...
soon after added the amp and sub
I've had my headunit in my 2002 replaced twice since I bought the car in October, but both times the dealer hasn't given me any trouble on it. This new one I got 2 weeks ago seemed to have solved the problem. Did this problem stop in 2003? Is it possible to put a 2003 Bose Head Unit in and solve the problem that way?

ANYONE KNOW what special adapter I will need to install and aftermarket HU? Where can I get one?
Thanks

goldmaxNYC, my local audio shop is familiar with the PAC adapter, but they told me that if I use it, not all of the steering wheel functions will work. Are your steering wheel controls still useful now that you're using them with the adapter to control an aftermarket HU?

I wouldn't want another Blose (it's actually a Clarion) HU anyway.

our stock radios are by clarion wih a Bose sticker on it.
i use my steering wheel controls just fine. there is a second adapter that u have to use to regain your steering wheel controls... its also from PAC co. if i remember correctly its called SWI-X adapter. You program your remote functions to the stock radio controls ..and whoala. haha
i have a feeling this thread is gonna be moved to audio section.

No problem with my 03 bose yet. **fingers and toes crossed** I also like the bose system. Subwoofer is pretty nice too.....This maybe because i was use to the stock maxima system in my 02. I don't understand how a clarion unit can have Bose stickered on it. Are they the same company and if not then isn't that illegal.

I have completely disassembled my bose HU and myself and two other engineers scratched our heads for three hours and found nothing abnormal.
Also for future reference when ever your right side speakers go out, just take your fist and hit the right side of your dash(next to your passengers left leg) and the speakers will come back in. This is not a permanent fix but when you have had your HU replaced 6 times like me you start to resort to violence.

I am also having the same problem with the stereo system. I called Bose yesterday and described the problems (shock sensative, right speakers play louder than left,...). They told me there're something wrong with the HU. They adviced me to contact Clarion or local dealer for further assistant (b/c Bose don't make the HU. They only make speakers and amp.)
I called the dealer this morning but they said my vehicle's warranty for that was over.
I guess I just keep listening to the radio then

Bose CD problem
I have exactly the same problem on my 02, left side speakers do not work when cd played. All the speakers work fine when radio or cassett is played. I had the unit replaced under warrenty once but now it is out again and not under warrenty. What bothers me now is I have the Gold extended warrenty plan but audio equipment is not covered according to the dealer. I currently am talking to the dealer's sevice manager and he is going to talk to the bose rep. about the problem. I really do not think two cd players should go bad on a car with 30,000 miles on it. I agree with some of the others there should be a service bulletin out on this because it appears to not be an isolated problem.
