Has anyone tried this:
http://www.carstereohelp.com/nissanBoseMax.htm

It says - "There is also a 6 CD changer same style stereo. CD does not work, channel out over bumps or intermittent on CD only, one/two channels on CD not working, does not work or intermittent, usually the left side, $250."

If that works, I'd be willing to go that route (provided it doesn't fail again in 3 months) because 250 is a lot cheaper than a new deck, speakers, amp(s) and the like. This is why I was wondering if anyone had tried repairing it themselves, because it appears do-able.

I just called another Nissan dealer. It costs $1200.00 for the HU plus installation.

$250 to repair the stock head unit or $1200 to replace it is ridiculous, guys. My new head unit with motorized detachable face plus ALL of the adapters I needed to make it work with my stock speakers, antenna, and amp cost under $250.
