question on stillen intake
question on stillen intake
None of my brackets seem to fit the holes correctly on my car. The big plate bracket on the bottom and the little gold one for the top dont fit. I would have to bend the intake a little hard in order to do so. So my question is.. do i need those brackets? I mean all thats holding it in is the hose clamp at the MAF sensor? Is this safe? thanks
i have the stillen intake and i noticed also that it didnt fit well. i left the large bracket on the bottom w/out the screw installed just to hold it up, and i took the top bracket off completely. no problems after a year.
i used to have one (for two weeks) and my bracket didnt fit right either so the part that connects to the throttle body kep popping off which would trip the MAF and the car would die. i called them and they said i didnt install it properly. i called everytime it messed up to prove there was something wrong with it. they started gettting pissed and rude with me. i told them i wanted refund or i would post about it on here and cost them alot of business. at first they got pissed cause i was "threatening" them. but they finally got sick of me and gave me a refund. then i sold the damn intake
sorry for the rant

Had no problems...........
Had no problems what so ever with the install of my Stillen intake. Actually everything went on perfect. Have had it on about two years now with no maf issuies to speak of I have cleaned the filter twice. IMO one of the best sounding intakes out there for the Max. One thing & the only thing that anyone can ***** at Stillen for is there cost. There products have always been quality & fitment & finish are top notch. Guys on this board are always bashing Stillen becuase it is the popular thing to do. But after installing a FSTB, RSTB, RSB & INTAKE all Stillen brand I love there products & cant say a bad word about them. Hell I even have there oil cap & battery tiedown. Some may need to look in the mirror for there problems installing Stillen products perhaps its the installer? I have had no trouble at all installing any of the above products from them.
i agree with Kevon..i have a bunch of stillen mods and they have been great and the stillen intake is deff one of the louder ones out there..im not sure why it doesnt match for your car..for my 01 it matches perfectly..but i did use the gold plate bracket thing for reinforcement
you cant say that the stillen is louder without trying the others. ive have stillen and berk and they sound the same. the sound is from more air being sucked into a cone filter. doesnt matter who made it.
most people dont bash stillen because their products arent good quality. we bash them because its the same thing that other companies offer for a fraction of the price. they charge more because they are the original nissan performance company. i refuse to pay for the name
and kevon...in my situation it wasnt the installer. it just didnt fit right.

OutMaxxed, just remove the top plate completely, and remove the bolt holding the bottom bracket into the car. make sure the intake is very secure in the throttle piping. if you dont like it then i guess just try to get your money back like soonerfan did
