Newbie here!! Whats up guys?

Hi guys... Just bought my 2000 SE last saturday... Loving it !!!

Great car... great great great....

I have no idea how VW can sell underpowered Passat/A4 for the same price of Maximas... i was originally shopping for either a Maxima, Passat, A4 or a Saab. Most important requirement: MTX.

I've driven 2 Passats (v6) and a A4 and definately the Passat is way behind the Maxima... IMO.

I glad I did find a nice White Pearl SE with leather and all goodies.

Here are some pictures of my baby:

I have a ton of questions.... I even made a list:

* Seatbelt button is lost;
* what mileage should I expect;
* My first V6, is it easy to change/access plugs? DIY? how about oil?
* does anyone sell a MP3 player that fits the console perfectly?
* Is the 3.5 & 3.0 same block? I noticed during my shopping that they share the same motor mounts...
* Is the SE really that stiff or I should check suspension? I have 64K miles. It feels like a Integra -R
* Do the heated seats cycle on&off automatically? It gets gold after approx 10 min driving...
* Who sells the best cargo nets for these cars? What is the best deal?
* the link for the fog-mod with pictures is broken... Any other link?
* does the alarm system has a shock sensor? Doesnt look like.... And could I install a perimeter sensor?

But today is friday.. i am too lazy to create new topics and type them up..... But wait till next week.. i'll be all over the forums... he he he

One question for the moderators: I love the search feature (even more when i am in a new site) BUT APPARENTLY I can't use it. Go figure....

Last, but not least.... I want to do some whoring...

That is my girl.... Gonna have some nice mods this summer and new pictures.... Anyone into bikes here?

Wow.. that is more than enuff for a intro post!!!

Later guys

duno about the seatbelt, the vq engine will last u forever, no cd player fits perfectly u must get a din available from crutchfield, and if u have the bose system u need an adaptor from crutchfield.com, the 3.5 is more powerful then the 3.0, dont keep the stock suspenssion, drop it, read the stickies about that, becuz the wheel gap is huge on maximas, i dont have leather lol so cant help u there, you could prolly get a cargo net off an org member, ill find u the link for the fog rewire, and u can only search if you are a donating member its like 20$, anyways good luck with the maxima, and stay away from ebay mods!!!

The Passat sells because people think german is nice. VWs do have a decent drive, when they work, which isn't often these days; their reliability is patently atrocious. Enjoy your car!

My whole criticism against VW is NOT regarding their quality BUT regarding their image perceived by the market.

for instance, here in CT every single hot chick drives a Jetta and every single hot woman drives a Passat. It is incredible!!!

My ex-wife paid $6K for a 95 Jetta because she WANTED WANTED a Jetta. My last girlfriend was older and bought a Passat. Both TOTALLY underpowered.

And I have the impression that because great part of the consumers are females (flame suit ON) that VW totally sells a IMAGE and not a car.

Interesting is that the same situation happens in other countries. I have various exemples of VW Santana (european market) still being sold against ford Mondeos!!! Geeez.. Santanas are from 1980 !!!!! they did have a USA Market version... Quantum... thats how bad it is!! And they sell those cars !!!!

I mean... I cant believe they are still (or maybe were) selling that VW AP 2.0 engine for 20 years !!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on.....

sorry about the rant...

Its not low, just like mine is. Stock. You can't compare Audi to Max. Rool down the window and sit there on the door, and swing out on the Max - see what happenes. And try doing that in Audi.

Your so happy, just wait till ignition coils and MAF goes and other little things..
But anyways, enjoy the car.

If you want to use the search function, you have to donate.... but there are instructions on how to do the same search using Yahoo or Google... its in the Stickies, which all new members are supposed to read through and get to know (along with Forum Rules, FAQs, How-Tos, Search before you post, Parts Site, etc)... either way, search/read before you post because we have a high volume of users and too many repetitive threads already...

Changing oil is easy... your manual tells you how... there's also a fluids and lubricants forum here for what oils and what filters to use...

Don't know about your suspension, looks stock to me, the only way you can tell is by taking the tires off and actually going in there to see if the struts/springs are stock... my 02 SE was way too soft for my liking...

The 3.5 (VQ35) and 3.0 (VQ30) are different engines, hence, 3.5 and 3.0....

The heated seats in my 02 stay on for as long as they are switched on... the only thing that cycles is my heated steering wheel....

For alarms, check also the Electronics forum....

And lastly, welcome to the .Org...

Raining on my parade!!!

I did read about the MAF.... scary !!!

Actually I am totally used to MAF problems... had a K&N overoiled on my last car and it was knocking like HELL !!!

finally bought an OBD-II cable and read the MAF values... totally out of limits....

by the way..... is the Maxima (2000) OBD-II ??? where is the port???

I've got a 2000 se and in my opinion the suspension is not too harsh. I used to drive around in an accord and I thought the suspension in that felt overly soft. I'll be throwing on some coilovers next weekend to get rid of the oogly front wheel gap.

I am not sure if you pulling my leg or if u being serious... Or maybe there are some people that do not know $hit about engines...

Let me rephrase my question again: I was shopping for either a 3000cc displacement engine or a 3500cc displacement engine (known as 3.0Liters and 3.5Liters respectively) and I noticed that the motor mounts on both engines were the SAME. so it came to my mind that it could be the same engine block BUT with different heads or something like this. Thus, I asked if they were similar engines or totally different designs. I am assuming that they are related designs because of the front motor mount.

Is that clear now? He he he he

Another thing interesting about the mentioned motor mount: it has a "m" wrtitten on it... it looks like a junk yard part. So I was checking under the hood on this 2001 Dark Graphite Maxima with 42K miles and I passed it because I first thought that it had been on a accident.

Following week I went to drive this 2002 and guess what: same motor mount with the same "m" written on it. It is not even typed... it does look like a junk yard replacement part..... I thought that was funny... After that every single maxima I checked had the same motor mount with the same letter "m" on it....

anyway...

Sorry that I "do not know $hit about engines" but apparently you don't ask questions very well either... if you had been more specific then maybe I'd have known how to answer it, or not. I'm pretty sure the blocks have the same external dimensions but does that make them "the same"? I guess its a matter of what you define the same. The VQ35 block is also about 35 pounds lighter. So are they the same?

theres about a 40hp dif in the too engines, the 3.5 performs allottt better then the 3.0 i have driven both, its not sumthing u can notice after driving them both once but when u are a veteran of driving the 3.0 and 3.5 you will notice quite a difference

Welcome to the .org. There are many MANY members who are very familiar with these cars and what issues go along with maintaining them. Like others mentioned, the stickies are an endless source of useful information. Also, housecor's site is a great tool for a variety of tips/mods for this car. You have chosen one of the better colors, but then again, I'm a bit biased.

Again, welcome to the .org and enjoy your stay.

Yeah, just about... to be precise, I think its something like... 255 hp @6000rpm, 240 ft lbs torque@3200rpm for the VQ35 in the 5.5 Gen Maximas and 222 hp (227 hp for AEs) @6400rpm and 217ft lbs @4000rpm for the VQ30 in the 5th Gens... I could be wrong though... esp since I "don't know sh*t about engines"...

Photos remind of the day i drove mine home. It was still a virgin

Enjoy the car. It will serve you well if you give it a little TLC.

* what mileage should I expect;
- 22 - 26

* My first V6, is it easy to change/access plugs? DIY? how about oil?
- oil is a 5 minute job but the filter loves to get stuck. have a tool handy. plugs are a little tricky on the back part of the engine. front 3 are easy, rear 3.. intermediate.

* does anyone sell a MP3 player that fits the console perfectly?
- not sure. if you have the bose nothing will fit by default.

* Is the 3.5 & 3.0 same block? I noticed during my shopping that they share the same motor mounts...
- i think so. could be wrong, doesn't matter though.

* Is the SE really that stiff or I should check suspension? I have 64K miles. It feels like a Integra -R
- yes it is stiff as crap. even the GLE rides like a tank. You won't get used to it, trust me. on the flipside, the rear being a solid axle it is a no maintenance part. you can go offroading and it will hold up. the front though will likely start to go downhill @ 100k with some weird noises. strut mounts and bearings tend to be first.

* Do the heated seats cycle on&off automatically? It gets gold after approx 10 min driving...
- yea, like the rear window defrost.

* Who sells the best cargo nets for these cars? What is the best deal?
- no clue

* the link for the fog-mod with pictures is broken... Any other link?http://www.innerbean.com/housecor/index.html

* does the alarm system has a shock sensor? Doesnt look like.... And could I install a perimeter sensor?
- none that i have activated. i've kicked it and what not, nada. i don't think you can wire another into the existing system. have to go aftermarket altogether.

By the way the 3.5 L (VQ35) is this year used in the Formula Renault, which is replacing the F3000. The engines are being prepared by Nismo.

World Series by Nissan
This is a popular intermediate formula series staged in Europe, centering on Spain, and South America. Today, this event is developing into the quickest route to F1 racing. This is a single-make formula in which all the cars were powered by VQ30DE engines; the chassis were made by Dallara of Italy.
Up until 2001, this series used the SR engine, but from 2002 switched to the VQ engine to gain both better performance and save costs. The engine is tuned to develop 450 ps, but long overhauling sites help reduce teams' operating costs.

They actually use VQ30DEs, and the engines similarities between VQ30 and VQ35 are only the engine family code- VQ, only thing they share is oil filters, and front exhaust manifold and precat :P Everything on a 3.5L is diff, block is diff- even thou exterior dimensions of the block are almost the same as a 3.0L, heads are diff, intake manifold is diff.

No trading parts yet.... I havent decide on the looks I want for the car. Only mod i'll be doing is the fog mod... which is a must.

Regarding the bike.... It is half naked and I dont plan on buying the lower spoiler...

but I did buy the belly pan, rear wheel hugger and undertail..... all custom made parts.... just need to have them painted. It's too cold to work on the bike right now and I've been a "little" overexcited about the maxima...

This is another TLS down in Brazil.... this is the looks I am looking for.... still half-naked.... as it was ment to be.

u dont know $hit about engines! j/k. the 3.5 is nissan rated at 255HP/246 TQ. according to most stock dynos, its more around 240 HP, 265 TQ i'd rather have the TQ!
