so after u add the JB weld do u just leave it untill it dries? someone had mentioned that you have to turn something every half hour so it doesnt get stuck. what is it that you tirn? The cup?

 

Great question... that's true cause if you are trying to weld it in place why would you move it????? Sorry but I don't get it.....

 

i jus set it in place and let it dry, i just made sure it was in the direct center of the cup, i let it dry for aproxamitely 14 hours, jus to make sure it was completely dry. when i reinstalled it, i immediately felt a diff, seemed like i lost a bit of low end tq and gained alot of power above 5k. i also had my techy friend put my ecu into learning mode and bump my timing +2 degrees.

 

Hey, how do you know if you have the cup in the right direction? I have seen about 20 pics all in diferent directions. I fixed mine and think i did it wrong, any help would be greatly appreciated.If it is fixed wrong where can i buy a new one?Nissan said i have to replace the whole intake manifold.

 

you should move the rod... its a precautionary measure. Whats the point of fixing it if the rod is now stuck in the closed position. If you open the VIAS up, you'll see that the rod inside the VIAS unit is attached to a bearing. You dont want that stuff to be stuck. Also, the longer you let it dry, the better chance you have in the long run of this stuff lasting.

 

How do I make sure I have it in the right place and it is in the open position.....

 

okay so i pulled mine off today and the brass cup is still intact. i cannot remove it from the plastic hole. does that mean that i'm good to go, or should i try and remove the cup, clean it and jb weld it back in place?

i would check for any shavings in the cup. just by design, i dont see how it can be fully intact. i would use some jb weld as a preventative measure so you dont have to take it apart again when you do have a problem.

 

where can i purchase the jb stuff?

 

Wally World, hardware store or anyplace that sells auto parts. JB Weld is the name. Fixing stuff is the game. Go on and buy yourself some.
