5th gen to 5.5 gen auto tranny shifter swap. namely, going from the straight up and down shifting of the 2k to the gated shifter of the 5.5 gen auto tranny. i recall that there was a lot of talk about this when nissan made the switch, but i don't remember anyone actually trying it.

any insight???

I suspect the ONLY way this can be done is if you use the VQ35 with the 6spd, but you'll also need the ECUs too.

Can be done easy because... i've done it! "Linkage"/ cable is the same; shift pattern is the same; PRN position switch (on tranny) is the same for 2000- 2003 max.

I did a auto to 6spd on a 00, but hes talking bout doing a gated shifter on a AUTO. The linkage is same, so is the tranny, only thing diff is the actual shifter assembly and shifter lockout solenoid.

Why?

Not that it's a bad idea or anything, it would be pretty cool. Just wondering if there is any real reason to do it, other than looks.
